Your daddy and I love you so very much. You change so much every day...it is amazing to watch! I say to him every day, "When did she get this big?" I feel like every time I come to get you out of your crib in the morning you are bigger than the night before! You are showing more of your personality as well. You are the sweetest thing and you LOVE your daddy so so much. You just light up when you see him. It makes mommy so happy. We are so proud to be your parents sweet girl!!
Blakely tried rice cereal for the first time on 2-21-12..she's not really a fan..
We took B on her first vacation! We drove to New Orleans and she did wonderful. She was excited to get in the stroller every single day and go on an adventure!
She had her first Valentine's day!
She held her own bottle for the first time...
2-16-12 was the first time someone else put her to bed besides Lonnie or me. She did ok and is getting better at it every time.
first time wearing shoes ;)
first time wearing a hat ;)
Sleeping: Weeeeeeellllll, this is ok. I can't complain because she does sleep great. But, she has been a little off the past few weeks. She still sleeps good just not as long. She will sleep until 5 in the morning and then wake up and want to eat. I then put her in bed with me and we will sleep until 8ish. So that is still really good, I know. Mama was just getting used to no interrupted sleep so this has messed me up! SInce I don't go to bed until 2 or 3 hours after her I am not getting a whole lot of sleep. My own fault! I think we are just in a transition period with her schedule. I think she wants to go to bed a little earlier and then she will sleep longer, weird, I know. But the few times that I have tried it it worked! So we will see how this next month goes.
Diapers: We are doing cloth diapers all of the time except over night. I am working on that one. While we were on our trip we did disposables and it was fine. I moved her up to a size 3 and we had fewer blowouts. I think the three is a little big but since we really only use it overnight it works fine because it holds more pee! And since it goes up higher in the back it did hold the poop better on vacation.
Clothing: She is in 6 month clothes or 6-9 month clothes. Just depends on the brand. The weather has been awesome here so we have been getting into our spring and summer dresses!
Weight: On our home scale she weighed a little over 16 pounds.
Height: 25 inches long.
Eyes: They are the most beautiful blue. They are closer to Lonnie's blue than mine. Mine are a little lighter than his.
Hair: Still rocking the bald spot in the back but it does seem to be trying to grow back in. It is a light brown color and sometimes looks pretty red!
Daily Routine: Our routine is pretty much the same as last month. Vacation messed up our schedule a little bit. Like I said before, we are kind of in transition so it is not the same every day. She is still eating 7 times a day and I am trying to get down to 6. We are up for the day around 730 and go down for the night at 9pm. Still takes 2-3 naps a day but she has cut out the small catnap in the evening.
Favorite toy: She really loves all of her toys. But I have to say her favorite thing in the whole world is her daddy!! She smiles so big when he comes home from work and she wants all of his attention :)
She does love her Baby Dotty and her Baby Dolly too. She usually wants to kiss on them when she is sleepy. This is Dotty...
She does like "reading" her books now...
A few other things...
Blakely LOVES being naked. She got a teeny diaper rash about a month ago so we let her be naked on the floor for a little bit. She had so much fun! We have been trying to do it once a day now since she likes it so much. She gets all excited and moves her arms and legs around like crazy.
She is this close to rolling from back to front. She can get her hips all the way over but she can't quite get her arm out from under her. She will do it very soon though.
She talks all the time. I mean all.the.time. It is adorable. Any time we go to a restaurant she talks the entire time. We can only go to places that are loud. She and I just talk all day long.
She loves her Grand Di (my mom). Since she has been staying here they have totally bonded. I can go put B on the bed with her and they just play while I get things done. It.is.awesome. In the beginning Blake would get fussy after a while and I would have to go get her. Since mom couldn't stand up with her she couldn't be consoled. Now Grand Di can console her, sing her to sleep, and play all day long. I am sure going to miss her when she goes home and so will Blake!
Blakely loves to be startled! She thinks it is hilarious! She jumps and then laughs out loud. It all started out with peek a boo and has turned into strait jumping out and scaring her. Here is one of the many videos I have taken of this.
The weather here has been beautiful this month. Spring has definitely sprung and we have been taking full advantage. Here are a few pics of our days at the park, walking downtown, and laying on a blanket in our yard.
Nicknames: We have so many nicknames for our little princess. We rarely call her Blakely!

I love being your mommy, sweet girl. Every day is better than the last and I can't believe how big you are getting. You will soon be half of a year old! I remember so vividly bringing you into this world and it seems like it was yesterday. I am so proud of you baby girl.
She is so sweet! About the breastfeeding-my daughter LOVED LOVED LOVED the boob! As time went on and she ate more and more food she ate less and less from the boob. By 1 years old she was only eating 2x a day. She weaned herself a few days after her 1st birthday. She just didn't want it anymore. Yes it broke my heart (I felt like she didn't "need" me anymore) but I let her do it on her own time. I love breastfeeding so much (who would have ever thought!) I will prob go into a deep depression when my son is done. I know he is our last. *tear*
ReplyDeleteHappy 5 months B!!! I am so jealous of her sleeping (as I'm up with a screaming teething Emily at 3am). She looks so happy!
ReplyDeleteGreat update! All the pictures are great and that video is awesome! We've realized Chloe doesn't like to be scared; she'll jump, stick her lip out, and give an awful sad cry. If we scare her "gently" she's ok, ha! Your little one sure seems to love it though!
ReplyDeleteThat video had me in stitches!! Seems like B had a great month. :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to what month 6 brings!
What a cute giggle she has!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the pics, her personality is really starting to come through!!!!
We went through a few bumps in month 5 with wanting to wake up at 4 or 5 am. My husband taught me the trick, do what you need to do. Either feed or change her, but act like she is a prisoner. No eye contact, no smiles, no playing!!! It is so hard, but it works.
Good luck!
This age is just the best! It sounds like you're doing really, really well! What a sweet baby Blakely is!
