WHAT?!?

Blakely has salm.onella.

Now can someone please tell me how in the world she got that?

The only food that she has had that wasn't cooked is mangos.  But she had mangos from the same batch multiple times.  She has had no meat or dairy.  I don't get it.  She has had my frozen breast milk.  I am about to goo.gle and see if she could have possibly gotten it from that. I wouldn't think she could but I don't really know.  I know she had some last week that was from December but it is in a deep freeze so it should be good for 6 months.  And I would think that the milk could go bad but not get salm.onella?!?

Ugh...

We are starting her on antibiotics today.

She has also now developed a wicked diaper rash from all of the pooping.  She cries hysterically every time I change her diaper...which is about every hour because that is how often she is going.  The only way to calm her down is to give her the boob.  Lordy, I don't know what I would be doing if it weren't for them!

I feel terrible for her.  She seems to feel a little better today, but still not normal.  It just makes me want to cry. I know this is stupid but I feel like it is my fault.  I mean, she had to have INGESTED it and I am the only one who feeds her!!!  I just wish I knew how she got it.  I am so sad for her....

She is sad too...

It's all just too much...

  1. Oh your poor girl! I wonder if you could have eaten something and passed it to her? Maybe you didn't get sick because you are stronger. My Mother got it while pregnant with me and went into early labor because she was so sick. I guess we were both very sick for about a week. I will be thinking of you guys & praying for better days to come!

  2. That sucks...poor Blakely! I hope she starts to feel better soon and that terrible diaper rash goes away. Are you finding any creams or any tricks to help it go away quicker?

  3. Oh no! That's so rough. Poor little Blakely. She probably could have gotten it from mangoes--most likely from the outside of the mango that transferred when you were cutting it up or even from something on the counter or cutting board that transferred. Don't be too hard on yourself!

  4. How terrible! If you haven't tried this for the diaper rash, I swear it is the best: Equal parts aquaphor and Maalox. Put it in the microwave to soften it up for a few seconds so it can mix up. Apply it to her little butt and keep it in the frig. It's great and doesn't burn their butts!

  5. Aww, she does look sad and under the weather, poor sweet girl. We have battled diaper rash for months so I know your pain when you go to change her and she just cries b/c it hurts. I hope you can get rid of it soon!

  6. Oh poor thing!

Those pics are just sooo sad.

I read on a post somewhere that when a baby has diaper rash that bad the wipes will really irritate it and that even though it is a lot of work, dunking them in the bath is a much more soothing way of cleaning it for them?

Poor baby, don't feel bad. You never know, she could have gotten her hands on something off the floor or something like that, it might not have even been from something she was fed.

I hope she feels better, that must be so sad to see.

  8. Poor little thing! It's just the worst when they don't feel well, but don't beat yourself up - you're helping her get better!

I also change several dirty diapers a day. Thanks, solid food!
