Our princess has a name!

We have known what her name was going to be for a while now but we haven't shared with anyone until this week.  When I was 20 weeks we had it narrowed down to 3 names.  After that we sort of stopped thinking about it.  So over the span of a month or so I just started thinking of her as one of the names instead of the other two.  When I pictured her room, this is the name that I would see on the wall.  When I talked to her I would call her this name.  So, it is kind of like she named herself.

So, do you want to know what it is???

Our sweet princess' name is......

Blakely Ann

This is the name that my husband has wanted the entire time.  I loved it but it wasn't the name that we had picked out since we first started trying to have a baby.  I just couldn't believe we weren't going with the name that we had liked forever.  So I sort of had commitment issues :)

So where did we get the name?

About a year ago my husband mentioned the name.  I don't remember how it came up but I had never heard it before at the time.  I have heard it a few times since then.  Her middle name is after me, my grandmother, my mom, and my mother-in-law.  Needless to say, she had a middle name long before she was even conceived.

We have been calling her B, Blake, Blakey, Blakey boo, and B boo.  Lots of nicknames!

We love her so much....

Happy Sunday!

Work...

Ok...I have worked the past two days and I am worn out!  I am so thankful that I only work two days a week...but those two days are tough sometimes.  Some days the job is ok...others not so much.  Like today.  My job is not easy....although some people might think so.  I do ultrasounds for all the patients in the hospital and we do them in their room.  So, this means that I have to push a HUGE (it's like 12 years old and ridiculously heavy) machine all over the hospital all day long.  Then when I get to a patient room I have to rearrange their furniture (bed, multiple chairs, cots, bedside toilets, IV poles, lunch trays, bedside tables, ventilators, you get the point) to get the HUGE machine into the room so I can do the exam.  Then there is the actual exam...which I won't I won't even get into how hard this part can be...I'll just say that people aren't skinny :(

So needless to say, this is getting harder the bigger I get!

Oh and I am on call as I type this.  Which means at any minute my phone could go off and I have to put my scrubs back on, drive back to the hospital and do all of the above again.  (by the way, no one tells you in school how HORRID ultrasound call is...not fair)

I hate to complain because there are times when I love my job....just not today.  It really makes me wonder if I am making the right decision to go back to work after baby girl is born.  My husband would like for me to stop working now...although he supports me if I want to keep working.  I know that I am so lucky to have the option of not working.  I think I am just scared to quit work and be a stay at home mom...what if I'm not good at it?

Ugh...such a tough decision.  I guess I will just see how things go.  The plan right now is to go back after 3 months off.  Although, if I actually sleep well tonight and my phone rings at 3 am and I have to go in for some non-emergent "emergency", I very well may change my mind about that!

Kelly Belly-28 weeks

How Far Along:  28 weeks!  This means I am starting the third trimester!  I seriously can't believe this.....

Size of Baby:  she is the size of a chinese cabbage

Maternity Clothes yes...

Weight Gain:  +18 total

Sleep: not great at all...my hips and groin hurt when I move or stay in one position very long.  It is helping to sleep on top of a pillow but sleep is still sporadic...

Best Moment of the Week: we got the shelves installed in my husband's new office...they are being painted as I am typing this...Yea!  The movers are coming Saturday to move all the stuff from Lonnie's old office (nursery) to his new office.  This mean her room will be cleaned out this weekend.  I am pumped.  I am then going to paint the room and get the carpet cleaned before putting her furniture in there.

Speaking of her furniture...they should be delivering it sometime this week or next.  I won't have a place for it so I am just going to store it in our guest bedroom until the walls are painted and the carpet is cleaned.

Another great moment is that I found some bedding online that I love! Even better that the fabric that I had ordered that came in wrong.  If you missed that post...here is the link.  I ordered it from a site that lets you customize to how you like it.  I am VERY excited about it and I placed my order today...can't wait for it to get here.

Movement moving all the time...although I think she is napping right now.  I can tell her patterns now...  She has also had the hiccups a few times this week :)

Symptoms:   achy painful hips when I sleep....that is really the only thing that is getting worse.

This is a little nutty....I don't sleep well at all at night and I am tired all day.  Then about 8 at night instead of going to bed I get like this huge burst of energy!  WTH?

Starting to get a little acid reflux at night...not too bad yet but I am sure that is coming.

My back hurts if I am up and around all day.

What I Miss: nothing.

Food Cravings/Aversions:  nothing new in this department this week.

Gender: precious little princess....who has a name that I will be sharing this week :)

What I'm Looking Forward to  getting the bedding in, getting the furniture delivered, moving all the stuff out of her room, EEK!!  All such fun stuff.

Weekly Wisdom: No, your daughter doesn't care what her room looks like (yet!) but it is ok to want it to be perfect for her!

Milestones:  Third trimester baby!!

Here is the belly this week!

I am about to be wider than the shower in the background!

Fabric fiasco

UGH!  The fabric came in for baby girl's room on Thursday and it is COMPLETELY A DIFFERENT COLOR than the swatch was.

I am not kidding...

I am not overreacting...

I am not exaggerating...

Even my husband says that it is a totally different color...which is shocking...

While me and my mom were in the store we compared it to the swatch (which is what we have been basing everything in her room off of).  It is a flowery fabric with three colors on it.  Brown, light pink, and a darker shade of the same pink.  The pinks in the swatch are like a rosy pink..really cute.  Well the light pink in the fabric is the right color but the dark pink is like a salmony or peach color!  I mean what the hell????  Peachy pink is not what I want!  (Nothing wrong with peach or peachy pink, it is just not what I had envisioned)  I know that fabrics can be different because of different dye lots, but I was expecting a different (darker or lighter) shade of the same color!  Not just a totally different color.  It is like if you ordered a baby blue fabric and they gave you puke green....maybe not this extreme but really really close!

Here is the problem....

This fabric doesn't match the 3 other fabrics that we ordered.  So I can't just find a new fabric to match, I have to change the entire thing.  We have been working on this for like 2 months and it is just disappointing.  This was the main fabric and I ordered 12 yards of it to have a bunch of other stuff made..not just the crib bedding.

So what am I going to do?  That is a very good question...

OPTION #1:  The girl that I bought it from (who is super sweet and super nice) has called the company and is trying to see if they have any of the correct color.  The fabric is sold in a lot of different places so hopefully they have some laying in the back of the warehouse that is the rosy pink.

OPTION #2:  Forget this fabric and start all over.  Which means going to Little Rock (hour away) to some fabric stores and finding something there.  No more ordering for me.  I just want  to find something and buy it off the large bolt in the store.

OPTION #3:  Just say screw having it made and buy a set online.  I am seriously leaning toward this option because I just don't want to worry about it anymore.  I found a website that will let you customize the the bedding that they sell so I would probably go with something from there.  I already have some ideas.  The problem with this idea is that I feel REALLY bad saying never mind to my sister-in-law's grandmother who so very generously offered to make the bedding for me.  I really would love for her to make it but it is about to be crunch time and I don't want to get the fabric in a month and then tell her to hurry up and make it!  (Did I mention that I also turned down a very nice and expensive crib from this same sister-in-law?  I am sure she will think highly of me if I change my mind about the bedding too!  But, to be fair, it was a drop-side crib and I just couldn't justify putting my baby in it...they made them illegal to sell for a reason.)  Also, like I said, I am just done.  Ready to move on and stop thinking about fabric!

I know some people might think I am crazy for worrying about this.  And I promise I am not freaking out or obsessing.  I am just ready to have the bedding finished or in the process of being made so I can move on to the next thing.  But let me explain.

I understand that my sweet daughter doesn't give a hoot about her bedding or even if she has a crib for that matter.  I also know that the ONLY thing that I want at the end of this pregnancy is a healthy baby.  That is all that matters.

But please take into consideration this...

I am a girl who has dreamed about decorating a nursery for a long time.
I am a girl who went three years thinking that I might not ever get to decorate a nursery.
I am a girl who might not ever get to do this again.  I certainly hope we are able to have more children but nothing is guaranteed.

So my point is...this is for me.  The room, the furniture, the bedding, the decorations...all for me.  And I think that is ok.  I want to get something that I love...I don't want to settle on something that I don't love....is that so wrong?  Why am I so worried about what other people will think?  Isn't it ok to do this for me?

Kelly Belly-27 weeks

Sorry this is two days late.  I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and I was just too tired last night to post.

How Far Along:  27 weeks!  I can't believe it!

Size of Baby:  she is about the size of a cauliflower this week.

Maternity Clothes I got a couple of new shirts this week from friends.

Weight Gain:  +3 pounds in two weeks so +18 total

Belly Button:   I'll let you know when it pops out :)

Sleep:   not very good this week.  My pillow situation is not working anymore.  I think I need a few more to prop myself up.  I already use two body pillows and three regular pillows.  It is my back that starts hurting so I'm thinking a few more to lay on would help.

Best Moment of the Week:  Her crib blanket and her diaper stacker came in this week.  This was the first time I have been able to see her fabric besides just the swatch.  I did have a large small breakdown because the darker pink in the fabric was a totally different color.  The color in the swatch was a rosy pink and the color that came in was a peachy pink...ummm yeah...totally different when you have planned her entire room around a rosy pink...NOT PEACH!!!  SO we talked to the owner and she agreed that it was a different color.  We decided to wait until all of the fabric for the bedding came in to see what color it was before freaking out.  They called me today and it is in.  So me and my mom will be heading up there this afternoon to check it out.  I really hope that it is rosy pink because I can't just start all over!  Even though this is a stressful thing...it is still a great moment because I am so happy that I even have things like this to worry about :)

We also registered this weekend.  We went to babies.r.us and picked out our big things.  All of the smaller things I am trying to finish up online this week.

We also bought our stroller/car seat this weekend.  I have a stroller in my closet right now....isn't that crazy!  I still can't believe it.  I may have done a few strolls around my house :)

I had an OB appointment yesterday.  I passed my glucose tolerance test and it wasn't that bad.  The worst part was that I was STARVING by the time she was drawing my blood...but the drink just tastes very sweet.  Also, he checked my cervix for the first time.  He just wanted to give me (and him) some peace of mind since I have been having these BH contractions all the time.  Everything looked great...I think his words were that my cervix was rock solid...way to go cervix!  He said now I know that these BH contractions are just normal and are not causing any change in my cervix.  I can relax about that.  He told me to just watch for a change in them..which I think I would be able to recognize now.  If drinking a glass of water and laying down for an hour doesn't make them stop then give him a call.  I go back in two weeks!  I can't believe I am already on the two week rotation!

Movement she is a mover and a shaker.  I absolutely love it!

Symptoms:   all still the same.

What I Miss: nothing at all...I love being pregnant and am so thankful to be in this spot.  I waited a long time to be here so I am just trying to enjoy every little thing...even the aches and pains.

Food Cravings/Aversions:   I did discover caffeine free Coke....love it!  I have had one every morning for the past two weeks.  This is probably why I gained 3 pounds in two weeks....

Gendera precious little princess!

What I'm Looking Forward to going to look at the fabric this afternoon (hopefully that isn't traumatic!), finishing up my registry, and getting her room cleaned out.

Weekly Wisdom: no wisdom this week...

Milestones:  another appointment down and almost to the third trimester!!!

Here is the belly this week....I'm not sure you can tell but I really feel like my tummy is stretching out this week.  It just feels bigger every day....

Best friends, baby gifts, and emotions

Just a little warning, this is a totally random post!

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this but I have the bestest best friend EVER.  Her name is Sarah and we have been friends since 8th grade.  Since I have been totally nesting and wanting to clean out everything in my house, she volunteered to come over and help me!  There are many reasons I love her BUT one of the main ones is for her organizing skills and her craftiness.  So, she helped me clean out my craft closet today.  She pretty much did everything...I just told her what to do!  This is what the closet looked like before....

We took everything out of the closet and put it on the floor in the spare bedroom.  Then we organized everything into plastic tubs and put it all back.  Here is the after pic...

I had to force myself not to use my label maker and label all the tubs...since I can see what is in them!

If you are wondering what all the junk is here is a small list :)
-scrapbook paper
-scrapbook supplies
-markers
-crayons
-fall decorations
-spray paint
-regular paint
-paint brushes
-candles
-candle holders

You get the idea right???

Anyway, so happy to have this done and can't wait to move on to the next project!  I am in a holding pattern on baby girl's room until the shelves are installed so I am working on everything else I guess.

The baby gifts are starting to arrive.  Lonnie came home from work this week with this sweet little white blanket that a lady that works for him made our for our little princess.

Quick backstory.  There is a girl that I went to x-ray school with but lost touch with her after we graduated (2004).  Last year one of my husband's partners was telling me about a girl who was working at another hospital they cover who was having problems with infertility.  He asked me if it was ok to give her my email address so she could ask me questions since I was very knowledgable (unfortunately).  It turned out to be her.  So we have been talking and I told her everything I knew about everything....at that point we were on a break before starting IVF #3.  She has had 2 ectopic pregnancies so both tubes removed...only IVF for her. We will call her A here because I am not sure she would want all that announced to the world!

My husband came home from work yesterday with another gift and it was from her.  She made this blanket and this adorable sock monkey!

Let's all cross our fingers for her and send A some baby vibes.  She has been saving up for IVF for a while and they are about to get started.  She has been on Lupron and about to start stimming.  I really hope this works for her...she deserves it so much!

This brings me to my last topic.  I am an emotional crazy person.  I cried when I opened both of these gifts.  I cry when I see commercials on tv..especially the Pampers one.  I cried when I realized I could no longer see my vagina the other day...a happy cry, of course, but going to have to figure something out on that front.  I cried when my husband killed the wasps on our dock the other day...what if that was a mommy wasp????

I will leave you with this....

You know you are way too emotional when you cry every time you see roadkill...

again that could have been a momma possum???  TEAR.....
