How we did it.

We finally decided to let everyone know about this pregnancy.  Well, actually, a lot of people already knew.  Mainly because people knew about our trip to Denver and all that we had gone through this time around.  But there were still a chunk of people that did not know that we wanted to tell.  Ya know, like our own child!

We told her when I was about 8 1/2 weeks after my second official ultrasound.  I kept thinking up fun ways to tell her but nothing just really seemed to stick with me.  Finally I just wanted to tell her and I didn't care how we did it.

I bought two little sleepers (gender neutral because we didn't know yet...hard to find!) and wrapped them up.  Lonnie and I sat down with her and told her we had a really big surprise for her.  She opened them up and immediately thought they were for her baby dolls.  We said yes they could wear them but who else could wear them?  She said real babies.  Then we asked her if she wanted to have real babies come live with us.  She thought that sounded real fun.  I said, "you know how Mommy hasn't been able to pick you up and my tummy hurt a little while ago"?  She said yes and asked if my tummy was better now.  I said that it was but the reason for all of that was because there are two little babies growing in my tummy.  I swear the look on her face was exactly like in the picture below.  She was literally so surprised.  This surprised Lonnie because he didn't really expect to get such a reaction out of her.  It was so adorable and I, of course, cried!  She said she wanted to hold them and I told her they have to grow really big and strong and then when they are ready to come out she can hold them.  She said she wanted to see them so I showed her and ultrasound picture which meant nothing to her...ha!  We talked to her about my tummy getting big and then she could feel the babies.  She was really interested and really excited.  She said she would help me change their diapers and give them bottles.  It was seriously one of the best moments ever.  I soaked it all in.  We were all sitting on the couch snuggling and talking about the new babies.  A moment I didn't think would ever happen and I was living it.  I am so lucky.

I figured she would tell everyone immediately and she did at first.  She told my mom (who knew but acted like she didn't) and the same with my mother in law.  I thought she would tell her teachers at school but it took her about a week to do that.  I picked her up one day last week and the director pulled me to the side.  She said during lunch Blakely had told her something.  At first I was like OMG did Blakely get in trouble?  Because she never does at school.  Then she said Blakely told her there were 2 babies in my tummy and she was going to be a big sister.  I said it was true and she figured it was just one and I said oh it is 2!  They were all super excited.  It was pretty fun :)

I knew I was going to officially announce last weekend.  Lonnie and I knew the genders since my 8 1/2 week checkup.  I asked my nurse in Denver when I could find out and she said right now!  It was so crazy to know.  Lonnie and I decided to keep that a secret for a little bit.  We never got the have the secret of me being pregnant like most couples do so it was nice for just the two of us to know this and no one else for a while.

Lonnie didn't know that I was going to ask the nurse so he had no clue that I knew.  I left a few notes for him around the house that led to Blakely's room and the reveal.  I made up a little poem that ended with something like "we are going to need to buy a few new toys because you are going to be the Daddy of another girl and a boy".  I wasn't home when he read them so he called me and it was really exciting and special.  Love that man of mine.

I started trying to think of ways to announce and then I found this shirt on E.tsy.  I thought it would be a great way to announce the pregnancy to those who didn't know but also to announce the genders to everyone.

It took my mom and mother in law a good 10 minutes to figure it out when they came over and B had the shirt on.  It was pretty funny.

So there ya go.  I am pregnant with a boy and a girl.  Life couldn't be more perfect right now.  I have to pinch myself often.  I don't know how I got to be so lucky!  Sometimes the negative creeps up in my mind or the superstitious side of me starts to take over.  I really have to force myself not to be this way.  I am trying to enjoy the moments and not think about all of the bad things that can happen.  That is really hard for me but I am doing better.

A couple of notes...
Blakely doesn't care a thing about it being a brother and a sister.  She just wants "babies".
The clinic knows the gender of the babies because of the chromosome testing we had done when they were day 5 embryos.  More on that here.

What you've all been waiting for!

So I have kept you in suspense long enough, right?
Well I didn't do it on purpose.  I just wanted to look again to double check and make ABSOLUTELY SURE we were right.

I'm going to share a few things first.

The Chinese gender chart said it was a girl

The Intelligender said it was a boy

The ring on a string of your hair test (some call this the needle test) said it was a girl

The heartbeat has been high...according to the old wives this means girl

The old wives also say that it should be a boy because girls should steal your beauty.  I haven't had any acne or anything like that.

So are you ready???

Can you believe it?  Because I was surprised.  I had been thinking boy the whole time!

It is still sinking in that we are going to have a daughter.  It is so cute hearing my husband talk about HER.  Crazy!  We were at dinner the other night and of course people are giving us all sorts of advice.  One man told my husband  to just wait until she was a teenager and boys started coming around.  I thought he was going to pass out.  He was white as a ghost!  Heart him....

For Mother's Day my mom and Jenni (aunt) got me a few things.  I took some pics to share with y'all.

beautiful gowns...

I was in Belk the other day buying stuff for me when I wandered over to the little girl section.  I can't even focus when I am there.  It is all just so cute.  I wanted to buy something but I felt like my first baby purchase needed to PERFECT.  I couldn't find anything that I just couldn't live without so I was about to leave when I came across the sale rack.  I got each of these for $7.  Each set has two onsies (one short sleeved and one long sleeved) and the pants.  Ummm....that is PERFECT!

This says daddy adores me...and how cute is the flower on the booty!!!!!  I love it!
 mommy says I'm purr-fect...
This one says one of a kind on the other onesie that I didn't get a picture of.

So there it is.  We are having a baby girl.  Now she just needs a name.  That is going to be tough.  We have had a few names that we have liked for a long time but now that it is real the list seems to keep growing instead of getting shorter.  I think it will be a while before we decide.

Oh and guess what?  My sister in law (married to my husband's brother) sent me an email the other day with some excellent news.  Her grandmother has offered to make the bumper pad and bedskirt if I want her too!  I am so excited!  My mom and I went to look at fabrics yesterday and I literally can't stop thinking about it.  I had dreams about little girl colors all night long.  There is so much to choose from.  I am off today and I think I will spend it online researching!  Fun Fun Fun!

Kelly Belly-16 weeks (a day late)

How Far Along16 weeks....as in four months....holy smokes!

Size of Baby: Avocado....way to go baby!

Maternity Clothes I need to go shopping.  I have been staying in my workout pants every day.  I have never been so thankful to wear scrubs to work!  I am going to be making a trip to Target in the next week so hopefully I will find some things there.  AND now that it is warming back up I can switch back to dresses and leggings.  So comfy...  This is how my jeans are being held up if I can't wear the belly band.

Weight Gain I think that I have gained another pound but I'm not sure.  I go back to the doctor next week.

Stretch Marks:  same as before pregnancy

Sleephas been better this week.  I am not sure why but it might have something to do with the rain (not storms) that we have been having.

Best Moment of the Week Well.....there are a few.  The first was sitting at my aunt's house with her and my mom discussing baby names.  That was super fun and we came up with a few new ones.  But I have to say that very best moment was yesterday because I found out the sex!!!!

Movementnot yet but hopefully soon.  Two days ago I was sitting in the recliner and I felt a little popping way down there on the left side for just a few seconds.  Before I even realized it to pay more attention it had stopped.  It could have been something but I am totally not convinced.  That was 15w6d....

Symptomsstill just the headaches.  They suck but I am totally willing to deal with them.  I have yet to take any Tylenol.  My boobs are ginormous...like seriously.  I mean I was a very small girl to start with so they might not be big to some BUT for me they are rockin'.....and it is awesome.

Food Cravings/Aversions: I am still on the Lemonade.  Other than that I really haven't had any cravings this week.

GenderI know but I am not saying just yet....that is going to have its own post :)

What I MissWe went to Outback last night and I was so excited because I LOVE the blue cheese chopped salad.  Only when we were about to order did I realize that I'm not supposed to eat blue cheese.  It was sad....  So I guess this week I miss that BUT NOTHING compares to being pregnant!

What I'm Looking Forward to feeling the baby move and buying stuff now that we know the sex!

Weekly Wisdom: I'm fresh out of wisdom this week

Milestones: I'm 16 weeks...as in four months pregnant!  That is just mind-boggling.....

Dreams:  I haven't had any dreams that I can remember this week.  I was writing them down when I woke up and I forgot to do that this week so of course I can't remember.

This is just a random thing that I want to remember.  Every night when I'm laying in bed I always talk to my little one and tell he/she how proud I am at how far they have come.  He/She is doing so well and I just have so much love in my heart.

The first pic is in the same clothes that I have been taking my pictures in...

This is a 16 week picture in just some normal clothes.   This shirt was not that fitted.....I am pulling it tight with my other hand so you can see the teeny baby bump :)

Hope everyone is having a good week!  Yea for sunshine!!!
