Fun stuff

Before mama went germ crazy we did take Blakely out and do a few fun things before I leave her for a week.

Lonnie was off week before last so we did lots of fun family things.  Most of it consisted of stuff around the house like taking walks, playing outside, riding her bike, and watching movies.  We did head up to his mom's house twice to swim in the pool.  We went once on the weekend so Lonnie and I got a little date night.  The next time we went was after I had a doctor's appointment.  I couldn't swim due to the medication patches I am on but it was nice enough weather for me to sit on the edge and put my feet in.  Blakely really loves swimming and can really get around wherever she wants with her puddle jumper on.  The next morning she woke up WAY too early and the first thing she said was that she wanted to go swimming.  So I agreed but she went sans bathing suit as I was too sleepy to find the dry on in our bag.  She thought it was hilarious!

We also headed downtown one day to cheek out a motorcycle thingy they were having.  Honestly,  it seems like there is a motorcycle rally here every other weekend although I know that isn't true.  In general I don't mind it but I do prefer to stay home when they are here because the traffic is HORRID.  But we were looking for something to do and Lonnie wanted to go see all the antique motorcycles so we fought the traffic and parked downtown. Blakely thought it was great.  She wanted to get on them.  Lonnie was like NO.  NEVER.  Pretty funny.  It got a little hot so B and I found some shade and took some selfies while Daddy looked around.

Then we stopped in a little ice cream shop and indulged in some rocky road.  This was the first time B has gotten her own cone and she was thrilled about it. She ate the entire thing, cone and all.  It took her forever!

We've been taking jeep rides as much as we can.  The weather is perfect right now for it.  And please don't worry...we don't go far from our house.  Our subdivision has a lots of roads with no houses yet so we just drive around there....veryyyy slowlyyyy.  Blakely likes it but wants to have a snack as soon as we get going.  Like clockwork...just like on the boat!

We have taken boat rides too.  This is usually what happens about 5 minutes in..right after her snack.....

Look at that sweet face!

And in case y'all haven't noticed football season has started!  Woo!  Our Razorbacks have won 2 in a row and my Patriots got back on track this week after playing like junior high ballers the first week.  One of my favorite times of the year!

I head to Denver tomorrow!  Just wanted to let y'all know again that I will be documenting this part of the journey just like I did the first part on Instagram.  Follow along if you like!  @mile_high_mama

Crazy summer

I feel like this is the lost summer or something.  I can't believe it is already August!  Things have been so crazy and I feel like all I have blogged about is our IVF and Lonnie being sick. Those are the two biggest things going on right now but we have been doing other things too!  A quick update on both of those and the some pictures of what we have been up to.

Lonnie is better.  After a week in the hospital and a week at home on antibiotics, today is his first full day back to work.  I talked to him earlier and he was tired and his back was hurting but he was okay.  He started complaining of a back spasm on Friday and that makes me very nervous but hopefully it is nothing.  We had a follow up with our doctor last week and as of right now we don't know what caused his meningitis.  Our (wonderful) doctor is worried that both of his weird illnesses this summer are caused by something else that is going on with him.  I am hoping that is not the case but we are to inform him of any changes in symptoms.  He is finally done with his at home antibiotics and he let me pull his PICC line out...FUN!

Since we had to postpone our embryo transfer we are looking at about a 6-8 week wait until another transfer.  As of right now the temporary date for the transfer is September 19.  I am about to start over on all of the hormones in a few days.  That doesn't sound fun but I am more than ready to get the process started and get pregnant!

Soooooo.....what else have we been doing?

The weather here has been unreal amazing.  We haven't even hit 100 yet and that is just unheard of.  We have been trying to take advantage of that.

We have been to my grandfather's pool a few times.

Pool days always in up in car sleeping.

We have been to the library story and craft time.  Mainly she loves the painting there.

We went to the park and had a picnic.  Trying to get Daddy out of the house a little.

We have taken walks in our neighborhood and since B can ride her tricycle now she does that about half and then walks the other half.

I hav been playing softball.  It is really fun and this week is our last week.  It is a long commitment and I sometimes I don't want to go but I like it and hope to keep doing it in the fall!  Here I am about to go play IN THE RAIN.  They only cancel for lightening and this was just an all day rain shower.  It was...interesting.  ;)

And I got this injury.  This is about 5 days after so it looks much better than it did.
Some d-bag slid into me at second and was basically trying to knock me over.  I guess he thought since I was a girl he could intimidate me by doing that.  Well he can't.  And he didn't.  I got him out.  Go sit down.  ;)

Blakely loves watching me play so we have been setting up the t-ball and teaching her how to play.  After my games she loves to run the bases so at home it is her favorite too.

She did this probably 25 times!  She started sliding into third all on her own.  Ha!

Hopefully things are settling down around here.  MDO starts back up again in a couple of weeks so I am going to enjoy these last few days home with my girl while I can!

playing catch up!

Things have been a bit nuts around here.  In a good way.  Lonnie has had some random days off and the weather has been nice so we've had quite a bit of fun family time.  I keep meaning to blog about certain things but I forget!  So here we go with a miss mash of a post and some pictures thrown in!
  • FIRST OF ALL.  I found out late last week that all three of our embryos are chromosomally normal!  Can I get a hallelujah?  I nearly flipped when I saw the clinic number on my phone.  But she immediately told me it was good news.  I cried.  Like full on silly cry.  I didn't mean to do it but it snuck up on me and I couldn't stop.  We have a phone consult with Dr. S on July 3rd and we are tentatively looking at a frozen transfer at the end of July/early August.  OMG.
  • Blakely is still going to MDO 2 days a week.  They aren't usually open during the summer but they decided to give it a try.  I am super happy about that because Blakely would have missed it so much!  I wanted to take a comparison picture of her from the beginning of the school year to the end.  It amazes me how much she has changed.  I mean, I expected it, but, she just looks so grown up!  And tall.
  • We have been going to the pool pretty much every weekend for the last month.  The first few times Blakely didn't really want to "swim".  She had to have me holding her AT ALL TIMES.  She didn't even want to get down in the water much.  Well fast forward to yesterday and all of the sudden she can swim all over the pool with her puddle jumper on.  Deep end, shallow end, jump off the steps, spin herself around, climb up on the floaties.  It is amazing.  I was so surprised at how much progress she made in just one day.  Something clicked with her and she realized holy crap I can swim around here!  Ha!  We are hopefully starting swim lessons soon.
  • I found a co-op in my town!  I can't tell you how excited this makes me.  I have been wanting to find one for a while but I couldn't.  I am not really one to just go to the farmer's market, chat them up and ask if I can buy food from them on the regular.  I was reading one of our local magazines and boom, there it was.  The best part?  Besides farm fresh food obviously, is that you order online!  I just placed my second order and I was so thrilled with my first one.  Everything was so fresh and just beautiful!  This time I ordered some meats as well as veggies and fruit.  Eventually I would like to get all of my meat from them but I am starting slow.  See?  Pretty!
  • On Fridays, after gymnastics class we go to my dad's house.  Last Friday we took a little boat ride while we were over there.  Blakely had a blast.  For about 20 minutes.  Then this happened....  I've told you before...boats are magic toddler sleep machines.
  • Last week at MDO they had water week.  They had some little pools and sprinklers set up outside and the kids got to play.  Well since then, Blakely has been begging to "play in the water and play in the little fishie pool and play in the sprinkler and run run run through the sprinkler like we did at school please Mommy please".  Everything is an elaborate run on sentence around here.  So I dug out the little pool I bought when she was a baby and the child was thuh-rilled.  I set up our sprinkler and she was a little timid about it at first but after a few tries she was running around like crazy.  So  much so that I went online right then and bought another ball like sprinkler for her.  I love summer.
  • Lonnie and I have been playing co-ed softball again this year.  Have I mentioned that? It is fun but it is hot.  Last week we had 2 games and it was 95 degrees with like a million percent humidity.  Towards the end I thought I may just lay down in the outfield. I think we have about 3 weeks left.  Good news is that I haven't been injured yet!
  • I got Lonnie a Keu.rig for Father's Day.  Why did we not purchase this like 5 years ago? And why did no one tell me that it makes a lot more than just coffee?!?!?  I don't drink coffee so I never paid a bit of attention to the thing.  Hello Kelly (autocorrect tried to change that to Hello K.itty.  WTF).  It it so much more than a coffee maker.  I may have just placed a very large order of tea, cider, hot chocolate and lemonade.  B will flip over the lemonade.  Girl is obsessed.  She helps "make coffee with Daddy in his new coffee maker we got for him for Daddy Day yesterday and I sit on counter with Daddy and help him make super hot coffee".  Love that girl...
  • The other night I put Blakely's pajamas on and forgot to pull her hair out of the neck.  A few minutes later I looked over and saw this.  How cute would a little toddler bob be?  Not going to happen but I had to take a pic of the cuteness.  Although I am about to make her an appointment for a trim.  Her very first one.  Just a trim...

Okay.  I think y'all are caught up!  Happy Monday!

the weekend....

We had a great weekend.  As expected!  Quick (yeah right!) recap with lots of pictures of course.

Saturday morning Blakely woke up super early so we decided to watch some Mick.ey in the bed with Coll.ier and Sy.ble.  Terrible picture but it was such a sweet time.  This was the first time B had seen them because she was asleep when they got here Friday night.  She was so excited.

We ate breakfast and immediately went out on the boat.  We took a long ride and then stopped to swim for a while.  B was getting very sleepy so we eventually headed back to the house for her to sleep.  Well, she fell asleep on the boat for a bout 10 minutes so once we got back to the house she refused to nap.  Yikes.  I was a little worried about her attitude for later in the day but she did great.  I think she was just distracted with so much going on.

We hung out on the dock and in the water while my mother in law and her cousin, Andrea, watched B in the house.  My sister in law's friend and her family (husband, aunt, uncle and son) stopped by and hung out on the dock with us for a while.

After a few hours in the water we headed up to the house to start cooking for the fish fry.  We had another couple and their 2 kids over for dinner and to let the kids play.  They are friends of ours but they also know my brother and sister in law.  We usually have them over when Marshall and Kristen are in town.

My {amazing} mother in law made real french fries.  And she brought all of the groceries...

This sexy guy fried 4 pounds of crappie.  If you are unfamiliar with this fish a) I feel sorry for you and b) you don't pronounce it the way it looks ;)

one of about 6 trays....

The weather could not have been better.  It was high 80's and not too humid.  Let me just repeat that HIGH 80's!  At the beginning of July!  It is usually 100 by now and so humid you can't breathe.  Thank you thank you thank you!  We were able to sit outside without the mister or even our large umbrella up.  Perfection.

All of the kids had a ball.  They built a huge fort in my living room.  At one point it was a 2 story fort!  Blakely was just trying to keep up with them and doing a pretty good job of it.  Jeremy was the builder of the forts.  We called him the fort engineer...

Blakely absolutely loved playing in the fort.  She did not want to come out.  It was adorable watching her take toys in there and play by herself.  Such a sweet girl.

They also made a ton of paper airplanes.  Still finding these in random places...

After we stuffed ourselves with as much food as possible we headed down to the dock to shoot some fireworks.  I just took B down there for the first few because I knew she wouldn't like the loud noises and it was already 930.

B and I came back up to the house and since she was so sleepy and snuggly I decided to let her watch a Mick.ey in our bed.  This girl didn't go to bed until after 10!  And with only a 10 minute nap.  She was such a trooper and she had an absolute blast playing all day.  The good thing about having bigger kids over is that it shows you that your "big girl" isn't really all that big yet.  Thank goodness.

When I got back upstairs from putting her down, everyone had broken into the strawberry pie my MIL made.  It was, of course, wonderful.  I could have eaten the whole pie but, alas, I had to share.

The next morning B did not sleep in.  Not cool my dear.  So we were up bright and early for another fun day.  Coll.ier and Sy.ble have been asking for a long time to see pictures of when my MIL was a child.  They also wanted to see pics of their daddy and uncle Lonnie as kids.  So my MIL brought her projector and slides (can you even believe that?) and put on a slide show for all of us.  It was so fun and the kids had a great time guessing who everyone in the pictures were.  Total hit NanaBob!

Colli.er and Sy.ble wanted to take another ride on Big Mable before they left so Lonnie and I took them out...just the 4 of us.

Coll.ier wants to ride really fast and turn in lots of circles.  Syb.le "just wants to ride, not all crazy, just a smooth ride"....her words.  We let him ride by himself first so he could go crazy.  He leans in and loves going outside of the wake.  I told him next year he will be begging Uncle Lonnie to try to throw him off the thing.

Syb.le said Coll.ier could ride with her but only if we did what she wanted.  So we went slow and gave her a smooth ride.  :)

I love this one.  Look how bored he looks!

There it is!  Our fun summer weekend.  We are hoping they come back in a month and we can do it all again!  Happy 4th of July!
