Blakely Lately

A few things about my girl recently.

She is obsessed with her nightgowns.  That is all she wears when we are at home and it is a struggle to get her into real clothes to leave the house.  She had quite a few that were too small but you couldn't tell her that.  Finally I convinced her to put the small ones away for baby sister by getting her two new ones that fit her great.  She was thrilled.  I mean the look of joy on her face when I presented her with a new Sno.w W.hite and Cin.derella nightgown was enough to make me teary.  She happily packed up the too small ones.  She doesn't just wear them either.  She uses them as a blanket for her peeps.  She lays all of them out so it is a constant maze in my living room.  She changes into a new nightgown about every 30 minutes or so.  Thankfully she has learned how to do that herself so I don't have to help her anymore.

If she is not in a nightgown (rare) then she is dressed up in some sort of super hero/princess dress.

She is little miss sassy pants.  She has started talking back and it drives me nuts.  When she gets in a mood she will talk back or yell at me NO!  I'M NOT GOING TO DO THAT!  Ummmm...yes.  Yes you are.  We have been using timeouts but what really seems to work is taking away a privilege.  We have talked to her a lot about all of the fun toys she has and the fun things that she gets to do and how those are privileges that she can lose if she is naughty.  So when she acts like that she loses something.  We usual talk about what it is going to be after her timeout.  The main things that she hates losing are her nightgowns (lol), her peeps (babies and stuffed animals that she constantly plays with), fingernail polish or her show before bedtime.  Honestly it makes my life more difficult when she loses one of those things but it seems to get through to her so we press on.

The days of me picking out what she has to wear are few and far between now.  She has such an opinion.  Well really she just doesn't want to wear what I pick out.  It doesn't matter what it is...it could be her favorite thing but she will say no just because it is what I suggest.  I see this happening a lot.  With her food as well.  If I offer it then she doesn't want it.  She wants to come up with the idea herself.  I am learning to maneuver around this.

Me:  I think this tank top would be great to wear in this 30 degree weather.

B:  No I want to wear this sweater.  (MOM WIN)

She likes to help me cook.  I try to let her as much as I can but I am probably not as good at this as I should be.  I just want to whip it up and get it done.  Having her help me takes so much longer and makes a much bigger mess.  I am going to try and do better at this because she is always so proud to tell Lonnie what she made for dinner.  We have been making some sweet treats lately (thank you pregnancy) and she LOVES to help with that.  She always says we are "making sumptin in the oven for Daddy".

She DOES NOT want her picture taken.  I have to bribe her to even look towards the camera.  Hopefully this is just a phase...a long one.  :/

She definitely has a best friend.  We will call her R.  They were in the same gymnastics class for about a year until last summer when R stopped doing it.  Then R started going to MDO and that is when they really started being BFF.  They are also in the same dance class and now R has started back up in gymnastics.  It is pretty cute to watch them.  When we get to MDO or class or whatever they run and give each other a hug and immediately start playing.  Her mom and I have become friends and we laugh at how much they talk about each other when at home.

She is very helpful.  Most of the time anyway.  She constantly wants to help us do the things we are doing.  Whether it is making a smoothie, organizing her toys or sorting Daddy's coin collection she wants to have a job to help us.  Just today I went through my dresser drawers and it was her job to put things into the different piles.  I hope this keeps up when the babies get here!

She asks "why" all.  the.  time.  She wants to know the why about everything.  Sometimes it can drive me crazy if I feel like I have answered her more than once.  But normally if you just explain things to her then she is okay.  She just wants to understand.  Why is it raining?  Why do you take a bath every night, Mom?  Why do we need to get gas in the car?  Why are we driving Daddy's car today?  Why does Daddy have to go to work today?  There are about 4 follow up "why's" to each of these.  She is not satisfied with a "that's just the way it is" answer.  Sometimes I really have to think about how to explain things to her.

She used to be such a snuggle bug in the morning.  She would come get in bed with me when she woke up and cuddle for a good 30 minutes.  Now she wakes up ready to GO GO GO.  She refuses to come into my room and just want to go upstairs and play.  This is super hard on mama...it takes me a while to roll out of bed in the mornings.

This was at 7 am.  She brought these paper dolls to me while I was still sleeping and told me she was ready to play with them on her tea party table.  Also....her eyes and lips.  I mean...

She will still snuggle before nap though so I shouldn't complain!

She loves watching gymnastics on tv.  Grand called me one night to tell me college gymnastics was on tv and she thought B might like it.  I recorded it and we have watched it a lot since.  She runs around all over the living room trying to do what she is seeing on the tv.  Cartwheels, jumps, rolls and twirls.  She finally made us bring her trampoline in the living room so she could get more air during her moves.  It is pretty cute.  When her routine is over she runs over and gives us all a high five like the "big gulls" do.  I am just waiting for the time when she just does a back flip off the couch.  Matter of time.  I love this video so much.

She is eating constantly lately.  And I am not kidding.  She normally has 2 breakfasts before 10am.  The first is usually 2 pieces of toast either with butter or peanut butter and some sort of fruit.  Then the second is another fruit, yogurt or some eggs.  Then she wants lunch around 1030!  She wants to snack all the time.  I am pretty strict about no snacking when it is close to a meal time because it was always ruining her dinner.  But right now she could snack and then eat a large meal as well.  She has always eaten dinner and then nothing after that.  Now she has to have a snack before bed.  I guess it is just a growth spurt because she is sleeping better too.

Some funny things she has said lately.

Me:  That was a good idea B.  Who taught you that?

B:  No one, Mommy.  It was just in my brain!

Sarah and I were having a conversation and she was trying to get our attention.  Finally she got frustrated and walked right over to us and said, "Stop the words!"  We cracked up and stopped talking to see what she wanted.

She spent the night with my mom last Saturday night.  She kept asking GranDi when the "Tomball" game was on.  Ha!  I guess I have been talking a lot about the Sup.er Bo.wl lately.

Random things she likes:
pears
hide and seek
rinsing off her own dishes
crafts
her piggy bank

Random things she dislikes:
putting her hair up
brushing her hair
water in her eyes
our dog :/
washing her face after meals

Lately Lonnie and I will just look at each other sometimes and be like "omg she is such a little girl".  She is definitely not a toddler anymore so I guess the next description is preschooler?  She is very logical and can be reasoned with most of the time.  We find if we talk to her like an adult or explain her discipline to her like an adult then she responds really well.  I can't believe we got so lucky to be her parents.  She is so full of personality and is a joy to be around.  She makes us both smile and can brighten up any foul mood.  I have loved watching her grow and I can't wait to see her bond with the new babies!

Blakely lately

It has been a while since I have done a Blakely lately post so I thought I would!  I know I will do a big one when she turns three (omg) so I wanted to get some of these things down now because she is changing so much.

She is really in to pretending.  She loves to pretend that someone is sick and she gives them a check up with her D.oc McStu.ffins bag of tools.  If we tell her not to do something, for example...do not put any more lotion on, she will grab the bottle and say I am just pretending to do it.  Sure.

She is very attached to me.  She always wants me to put her to bed.  This started when Lonnie was sick and was not here to do it.  Now she is used to that and it is a struggle to have him do it.  We read her Highli.ghts magazine that she is obsessed with and then we rock for a few minutes.  She has to turn on her light up clock and her lady bug nightlight.  Then she gets in bed and I pat her back.  Then she always wants to jump back up for "one more hug and kiss".

Speaking of kissing, she has all different types of kisses.  Lip kisses, nose kisses, butterfly kisses, frog kisses and fancy kisses to name a few.  She will let you know which one she wants.

She will also tell you if she wants a big kiss or a little kiss.  Also, a big hug or a little hug.

All of her Y's and L's sound like W's.  So I love you comes out sounding like "I wove wu".  It is pretty cute and has been going on for a few months.  It is already starting to slowly change but I want to remember it because I love it.  "That is not wours, Mommy, that is mine!"

A couple of other words that she uses...
-Hand sanitizer is "hanitizer"
-Super is "su-su"
-Bottom is botten.  Sounds like bot-TEN.  "I AM sitting on my bot-TEN!"
-We call my grandmother Grandmama (sounds like grandma-MA).  Blakely calls her Danna-  mama.

And here are a few gems that I have written down over the past month or so.

After whining considerably while I was brushing her hair because she did not want to have her hair put up she finally sighed, huffed and said "Ugh.  Whining is so hard."

I had taken a screen shot of some boots on my phone.  A few days later she was playing with my phone and ran up to me with that picture on the screen and said "I need those boots in ONE SECOND".

And she got them, because, I mean, look at 'em...

We walked outside one morning and heard a bird chirping.  She screamed, "MOMMY!  That's a pecker!"  Apparently my mom taught her about woodpeckers....

While she was putting lipstick on me one day she said, "Mommy you are SOOOO not pretty yet".

While in timeout for the third time in one day she yells between hiccups and sobs, "Mommy!  Come back in here and give me a hug and a kiss to make me feel better.  I am a good girl!"

And finally, while sitting on the deck with Lonnie and I one afternoon she said, "Let's not chill anymore.  I don't like rewaxing or chilling".  Okayyyy.

Hello there! And a survey...

Hi peeps!  Ahhhh.  It feels good to be home.  Don't get me wrong, the beach was great but there is just something about sleeping in your own bed.  We had a great time which you know I will recap in a post all its own.  Lonnie is finally feeling back to normal.  He was still sick through most of our vacay but I am just thankful he is back to normal today.  It took him some time to recover all of his strength but I sent him off to work today in a good mood and he was ready to tackle this long crazy stretch he has coming up.

I am busy unpacking, doing laundry, organizing everything so the house won't fall apart while I am gone and getting everyone in line who is going to help take care of Blakely (and Lonnie!) while I am out of town.  I'm a little nervous....

I have so much blog catching up to do.  I left my phone dead for many days while we were away and I didn't really get on the computer much so I am so behind.  Hoping to catch up today!

I have a few posts I want to get up this week so hopefully that will happen.  But for today I decided to post this little survey that I saw on Shannon's blog yesterday.  Blakely answered each question and she thought is was so fun and wanted me to ask her more questions when we were through.  So I came up with a couple more at the bottom.

Two and a half

I have been referring to Blakely as 2.5 for a month or so but I knew that technically she wasn't.  Until last Sunday.  EEP!  Since this is a pretty big milestone and I haven't done a Blakely lately post recently I thought I would jot down a few things she is doing now.  You know the drill.  Feel free to skim!

EATING:  She goes through phases with eating.  Some times she wants to eat all day every day and then she will go a while just picking at her food.  I have no complaints because she is a good eater and always has been (thank you B).  She will try new things and she likes healthy food along with the not so healthy.  She has been getting more "treats" that I would like lately.  Occasionally at MDO they give the kids skittles if they help one of the teachers with something or for going to the potty.  She doesn't get them for pottying since she's been doing that for over 6 months but she does like to help them clean up or close the blinds or whatever.  I think it is okay since she is only there 2 days a week.

Some of her favorite foods are
anything (and I mean anything) dipped in ranch dressing.
cauliflower
peas
quesadillas
any kind of chip
eggs
corn
cashews
macaroni and cheese
yogurt
She loves all fruit but especially strawberries, raspberries and blueberries

(As I was writing this I asked her what her favorite thing to eat was and she said strawberries.  So there ya go...she could write this post herself.)

She is pretty good about trying anything but she HATES tuna fish.  I have tried many times over the past year and she just isn't going to go for it.  I'm actually okay with that because Lonnie hates it too so it is the only thing that I can make and not have to share with anyone!

This is random but it has been going on for a while so I thought I would document it.  For the most part Blakely wants to have her food separated on her plate.  She isn't really interested in any casserole that I make but if I put the exact same ingredients on her plate just separately then she will chow down.  This drives me nuts.

SLEEPING:  Ehh.  Sleep has been hit or miss since she turned 2.  Around that time we went through a crazy phase where she would wake up at about midnight screaming her head off.   Like screaming before she even woke up or stood up in her crib.  I would go in and get in her queen size bed that is in her room with her.  I was being lazy because I was super tired.  I knew she would go right back to sleep with me.  After about month of this I knew I needed to break the cycle.  It was rough but I did.  Then her sleep was fine for a while.  Now we are back in a stage of waking up screaming bloody murder.  Thankfully I can calm her down after 10 minutes or so and she will fall back asleep in her crib.  The main problem with this is she won't let Lonnie calm her down.  She screams and screams for MOMMY!  Makes me sad but at least I can calm her down.  Also, crib. for. life.  I am so not ready to move her to a big girl bed.  I think part of this is because it is the last "baby" thing and I am hanging on to it for dear life.

POTTY:  Blakely has been potty trained since last summer.  She has been napping in panties since the beginning of the year.  She was still in pull ups for naps at MDO but would always wake up dry.  I told them to start napping her in panties a few weeks ago and she has done fine.  I knew she would since she naps 4 out of seven days at home in panties with no problems.  For some reason I just never told them to stop using the pull ups.  Anyway, I don't have to buy pulls ups anymore.  She still sleeps in a diaper at night.  I am in no rush to change that.  She wakes up wet in the mornings but it is starting to get less and less wet.  Now she wants to immediately take off her wet diaper when, up until a month or so ago, she didn't mind leaving that wet diaper on for a while.  So we will see how that progresses but I am not pushing it.  Mainly because she is still in the crib so I would have to get her out to help her go in the middle of the night.  (Random but she woke up dry this morning and was so proud of herself and asked for a marshmallow?!)

CLOTHING:  She wears mainly a 3T.  She can wear some 2T shorts but not pants because they are usually too short.  My girl is tall.  Sidenote...I am obsessed with toddler clothes.  I didn't really buy her much stuff for the winter because she could wear most of the stuff from the winter before.  (Since she was in cloth diapers then her clothes were a size or two up..so they still fit once we ditched the diapers).  Now that it is warming up outside I realized she had no spring/summer clothes.  She had a few shirts that barely fit but they were very worn and borderline crop tops!  So I went on a little shopping spree.  I've been getting about a package a day for 4-5 days and holy fun!  Unfortunately for Lonnie she seems to be as excited to try on her new clothes as I am buying them!

When I was doing the online shopping with Blakely in my lap I came across some adorable leggings and said HOLY!  Blakely immediately chimed in with SMOKES!  Can we talk about how happy I was that she didn't say shit.  Because that is definitely what I thought was coming out of her mouth at first.

TALKING:  I love listening to Blakely talk.  She is in the stage right now where she has conversations with her stuffed animals.  I love eavesdropping on that and seeing if I can figure out her little convos.  It usually consists of her asking Minnie if she wants some tea, giving her the tea and then asking her if she likes the tea.  Or a whole conversation about going "night night" and "time to wake up".  She asks soft bear if he wants dinner.  Then she says okay me make you dinner.  Yummy!  I love watching her imagination come to life.

She is sort of obsessed with peoples names right now.  She asks me all the time "what's her name?" or "what's his name?"  She does this in public or she will point out every character in a book and ask me that.  If I know the name I will tell her and she never forgets.  If the character doesn't have a name then I tell her she can make one up.  Usually she names people Susie (shoo-dee) or Olivia (uh-wib-ee-uh).

She still mostly refers to herself as "me".  Occasionally she will say "I" but mainly it is "me do this or me do that".  I correct her occasionally but I'am not crazy about it.  I will miss it when she corrects herself.

On Sunday I told her it was her half birthday.  She said "What?  No, mom, it's my WHOLE birthday!"  Ha!

SCHOOL:  She goes to MDO 2 days a week and she goes with Juanet 1 day a week.  I love this schedule and we are planning on keeping it next school year as well.  We won't have Juanet in the summer but MDO has just changed and they are going to be open just two days a week during the summer so we are going to still do that.  Blakely loves going to school and doesn't usually have a hard time when I drop her off.  I think it is a great place for her and she learns new stuff all of the time.  They say she is a little mama there.  Always checking on the babies (they have to be a year old to go so they aren't really babies) and rocking the stuffed animals all the time.  She tells me about all the other kids each day when I pick her up and she knows all of their moms too!  I don't even know that.  They also tell me that she likes things put in their place.  They've mention this a few times.  When they pick up their toys she has to make sure they are put up in the right spot.  Or when they stack the carpet mats up after learning circle she has to make sure they are stacked just right.  She is a little OCD like this at home too but I don't think as much as she is there.  Hey, at least she is cleaning up!

She absolutely loves going with Juanet and when she comes to get her in the morning she runs right out to her car and hops in.  They go over to Juanet's friend's house as she keeps her little boy too.  Blakely is in MDO with him one day and with him at his house one day.  They are great friends and pretty darn cute.  She missed a week when we were in Denver and he told Juanet that he missed Blakely.  Then he told her that he wanted Blakely to come be his cheerleader at his t-ball game!  How adorable is that?  Juanet is so so good with them and I just can't say enough how thankful I am that we have her.  She is just the best and I know she takes wonderful care of my baby girl.

ATTITUDE:  Well I know I have said before that my girl is sassy.  She is.  There is just no getting around that.  She has a little attitude but for the most part we are able to keep that in check.  The good news is that she is not this way at MDO or with Juanet (for the most part).  She saves all of that up for me.  Ha!  She doesn't give them any trouble but I do know that she watches everything the kids that DO get in trouble do.  Then she breaks that crap out at home.  Thankful for that, at least.  At the point of this writing (because it changes every day) she will listen to me if I threaten to give her a timeout.  But I only threaten it if I am going to giver her one.  She knows that and that is why I think she listens a little better now.  She hates timeouts and cries so hard when she does get one but she will stay in the chair so that is good.  It seems to go in spurts where she will get a bunch of timeouts for a few days and then she will mind well for a few days.

OTHER TIDBITS:

This girl loves her gymnastics.  I am so impressed with how well she minds there now.  It used to be me chasing around a crazy child.  Now she does what the coach (?) asks of them and she is patient in waiting her turn.  Awesome.

She has pretty good manners!  She says "pees" and "shank you" all the time.  She is now saying "no shank you" when she doesn't want something she's been offered.  We are working on "ma'am" and "sir".  Don't get me wrong though, here are plenty of times where her manners are terrible (screaming that she is done with dinner and WANTS DOWN NOW)!

She still loves singing.  It is a new song or rhyme every week.  Last week I heard her singing something about a turtle.  Then she would mumble a few things and then yell POP.  I kept asking her to sing it again and again so I could figure out what it was.  Finally I realized she was singing Tiny Tim.  Once I figured it out she was so excited!  I had to google the words so I could sing it with her.  I asked her who taught her that song and she said JUANET!  So thankful for Juanet loving my baby girl so much.

The other day I heard her say something about God.  So random.  Then I paid more attention as she was talking to her peeps at her table.  She was saying "God is great.  God is good.  Let us thank him for our food.  A man."  Ha!  I know she didn't learn that from me so I asked her where she learned that.  She said at school during lunch.  I was unaware of this but it is a church program so I'm not surprised.  I guess what surprises me is that I can ask her these things and she can tell me.  So grown up.

Soft bear (in the pictures) is her main peep right now.  We have a big one and a little one.  I usually sleep with the big one and she sleeps with the little one.  He goes to MDO with her too and she talks about him all the time.

They had Dr. Seuss week at MDO at the beginning of March.  Since then she loves to read those books.  We have 4-5 of them and she always wants to read "just one more" before going to bed.  I'd say her favorite is Go, Dog, Go.  She can practically "read" it to me.  Which basically means she has memorized it.

Speaking of memory, I swear this girl doesn't forget anything.  It honestly amazes me and kind of freaks me out sometimes.  While driving she points out everything she recognizes.  If we go somewhere new she never forgets that place again when we drive by.  I guess I just didn't realize how much she would remember at this age.  She remembers stuff from many months ago.  She has quite a few of her books memorized so I will let her "read" them to me sometimes.  Pretty cool but it means Lonnie and I can't get anything past her.  If we tell her we may do something then she holds us to it.  The days are gone when I could bribe her to go down for a nap by telling her we can paint when she wakes up and then hoping she will forget it.  Oh no.  She wakes up yelling "Mommy!!!  Me paint!"

We have moved on from Mick.ey!  I repeat...we have moved on.  This mama is so happy.  Now I love me some Dis.ney but I just felt like she had learned all that show could teach her.  And I was so annoyed by it too.  Anyway, now she is obsessed with Bubb.le Gup.pies.  I do like this show because it teaches her different things than MMCH and apparently my child likes dinosaurs.  Who knew?  She only gets to watch 2 episodes a day when she is home with me all day (before nap and before bed) and one a day on school days (before bed).

This is a totally random story but it's funny so I want to mention it.  I have a huge pimple on my face right now.  Like haven't had one like this since high school.  Anyway, here is a conversation with Blakely about it.
B:  You have a mole on your face mom.
me:  No, babe, that is a pimple.
B:  WHAT?  Mommy has three nipples! ONE, TWO (as she points to my actual nipples) and THREE (as she points to my pimple)!!

Then she ran proudly to Lonnie and told him about my three nipples.

Let's hope she doesn't go to school saying that today.  :/

Happy 2 and a half sweet and sassy B!

Blakely Lately

I am not doing the monthly updates for Blakely but I do want to check in every few months and pound out a few details about her.  All of the things that I don't want to forget!  So here are a few (okay, a lot) of things about Blakely lately.  27 1/2 months old.

Language.  I love listening to her talk.  I can understand most of what she says and she makes me laugh daily.  The way she says some words are funny and I know it won't last long.  I remember when she called Snow Wh.ite "doh doh white".  Haha!  She doesn't usually say "I" so it is a lot of "me do this" or "me do that".  I correct her occasionally on this but I know it is pretty normal for toddlers to talk this way so I figure she will work it out soon.  I'm certainly not going to go around correcting her grammar all day..how annoying!
  • She still calls herself Boppy although it has gradually changed into Poppy.
  • She talks really fast and we have been working on getting her to slow down and say each words instead of smushing 2 and 3 words together.  "Ma hep Poppy" means "Mommy help Poppy"  You get the idea.
  • When she is trying to say YEP it sounds like "knee-YUP", long and drawn out.  Random but she has done this for months.
  • She calls all of her babies her peeps.  When we get her out of bed in the morning she says "get me peeps, Daddy" or when I take her to the store she tells me "take dees 3 peeps to store, Mommy.  Bay Doll, Sophie, and Minnie...3 peeps!"
  • When she is doing something she knows that she isn't supposed to be doing she will say "Go away Mommy, GO AWAY" to try and get me to go in the other room so she can keep doing whatever it is.
  • She calls the computer the "pooter".  *giggle*
  • Excuse me sounds like "shoo me"
  • Hungry=honey
  • Peanut butter=pee pee buttuh
  • Oops=wups
  • toilet paper= tutu paper
  • sparkly=farky
  • She most definitely has a southern accent.  Lonnie and I laugh because she draws out some words and it sounds so country.  A few examples.  1.  down=day-own                  2. bed=bay-ud.  3.  out=ay-out.  My sweet little southern princess ;)
  • she say's "I sorry" anytime she bumps into anyone or anything..even inanimate objects.
  • If you ask her a questions sometimes she will say "ummmmmm" before answering, like she is thinking.
  • The phrase I hear most often is "me do it meself!"

And some things that she loves...
  • snuggling

  • bubble baths
  • milk..good lord this child would drink it all day every day if I would let her.  If I had to guess she is drink about 4-5 sippy cups on days she is home with me and 3 on school days.  Too much...
  • sweeping (!)
  • apples
  • going to the pet store
  • her baby Sophie
  • GranDi

  • bandaids
  • shoes...still
  • anything daddy is eating
  • MMCH (killmenow)
  • playing chase with Daddy
  • gymnastics (I have a love/hate relaysh with it.  Love-it wears her out.  Hate-jumps and tries to flip off of everything)
  • doing every thing herself.

A few other little things...

-She talks about people or her peeps being happy or sad.  She will say Minnie sad and make a super sad face and pretend to cry.  Then she will jump up with a smile and yell Minnie happy!

-Her peeps get in trouble.  We have conversations like this fairly often.
B:  Bay Doll get in trouble Mommy.
Me: Oh.  Why?
B:  Bay Doll not listen.  Bay Doll get timeout.
Me:  Oh ok...
B:  (to Bay Doll)  No Bay Doll.  You get timeout.  You no listen to Boppy.  Get timeout for 2 minutes!
B:  (15 seconds later) Be good girl Bay Doll.  Love you Bay Doll.  Hug and kiss Bay Doll.

-She does get timeouts.  At this very moment the threat of a timeout usually does the trick to get her to mind.  We went through a rough phase a month or so ago where I felt like it was one constant timeout but she seems to be listening a little better these days.  I am sure typing that will totally backfire on me.

-She still loves the "night night" game.  She will stand in the middle of the living room, put both hands in the air and yell "EVABODY GO NIGHT NIGHT" about forty eleven times.  Then she lays them all out and pretends to change their diapers.  Then they get kisses and blankets.  Repeat...a lot.

-She can lock and unlock every single door in our house.  Yeah, that is fun.  We are in the process of installing a few slide locks on the tops of some of the doors...mainly the ones that lead outside!

-She is a little obsessed with the thermometer.  She was sick a while back and we had to take her temperature.  So now it is a fun game when she sneaks the thermometer out of the drawer.  "Sophie not feel good, Mommy.  Need mama-tuh (thermometer).  Open mouf Soph.  BEEP BEEP!"

-She loves to sing.  She knows so many nursery rhymes that I can't even keep up with her.  My mom teaches them to her and they sing together all the time.  Sometimes I will hear her sing something and I sort of recognize it so I will call my mom and she will remind me of all the words so I can sing with her.

-She is a sensitive little girl.  She is not sensitive when it comes to herself but sensitive about others.  I think she is going to be very compassionate just like her daddy.  A few examples.  If she sees someone crying on TV she gets very concerned and wants to know why they are sad.  While reading about Lit.tle Bo Pe.ep one day with GranDi she looked up at my mom with big tears in her eyes because she was sad that LIt.tle Bo Pe.ep had lost her sheep!  And one day when we went to the store we forgot to take Sophie with us.  When we got home she ran to find her and held her like this for a good 10 minutes straight.

We love being the parents of  this smart, sweet, sassy and sensitive baby girl!!
