Spring Break

So Blakely is on Spring Break this week.

I know.  She's 2.  I didn't even realize this would be happening until a few weeks ago.  I should have known because MDO goes by the schedule of the schools in town (Christmas break, spring break and summer break) but it never crossed my mind.  Juanet's daughter is a senior in high school so they took a trip this week.  So that means no MDO and no Juanet.  All of that is totally fine because I planned some fun things for B and I to do.  But the biggest of big deals about this is that Juanet is not here to clean my house today.  WHAT?  That means I need to clean my house (desperately) while Blakely is here.  I am really really bad at that.  Juanet will probably show up next Tuesday to hurricane house and want to turn right back around and go home.  (Yes, I realize how incredibly spoiled I am in this department.)

And instead of cleaning during nap I am blogging.  Obvious choice.  I am doing a load of laundry right now because the husband has exactly one white t-shirt and one pair of scrubs left in the closet so that totally counts as cleaning.  Sidenote, where do all of the white t-shirts go?  I think he secretly throws them away after particularly terrible days at work or maybe I would find 100 dirty white t-shirts in his trunk.  I don't know.

Anyway, back to spring break and all the fun plans.  They have been thrown out the window because Blakely is sick.  This alllll started on Friday night when Lonnie was putting her to bed and she felt warm.  Sure enough, fever and proceed with Tyl.enol.  High fever continued into Sunday when she decided to stop eating and drinking.  Yesterday morning she popped right out of bed and started playing so I was thinking, okay, virus, and we are on the down side.  But she wouldn't even drink her milk.  Now this child has never ever never refused milk.  She loves it and would drink a gallon of it a day if I would let her.  So I started to sort of freak.  I went and bought juice and apple sauce and ice cream (for bribes, duh).  Yesterday I did get her to drink some juice (which was mainly water...I am such a trickster) and drink a smoothie.  I called the doctor and what do you know he's out of town.  Spring break remember?  Normally his partner will see you but he was completely full because apparently Blakely isn't the only sick spring breaker.  So we had the pleasure of going to the other pediatric clinic across town this morning.  I wasn't thrilled about it because I am all about living in my little comfort zone but it was fine and she has strep.  Joy.

Just looking about 5 at the doctor's office

Isn't that the saddest face?  She asked me if we were going home to go back to bed.

As all moms with little ones know, there is one small upside to their child being sick.  The snuggles.  OH THE SNUGGLES.  They are great and part of the reason my house is such a wreck.  She wants me to sit in the chair and hold her so you better believe that is what we have been doing.  On Saturday night (before we realized just how sick she was and before she decided to fast) we made a pallet on the floor and watched Fro.zen with some popcorn. Superfun.  We have since watched it again and more television than I care to even admit.  More than she has watched in the past year combined, surely.  She hasn't even asked to go outside.

She has even been taking a nap with me but not today because I am supposed to be cleaning.  I should probably get on that.  I think I am officially rescheduling spring break to next week.  I was thinking the zoo, the park, the library and a hike but definitely not this week.  Once she gets better I am going to have to recover for a few days.  I have been getting negative sleep if that is even possible.  So tired but so happy that hopefully my girl is on the mend.  And I am off to clean the kitchen.  Promise.  Because we have exactly one clean fork in this house.

Rain Rain Go Away

I swear it has been raining for weeks.  Seriously...

It is making me depressed....

We have had multiple severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the past week.  I really do not like tornadoes.  When we are under a watch I sit glued to the TV.  A couple of days ago I even prepared the closet downstairs for us if we needed it.  I put a bunch of pillows down there, some blankets, and my computer.  I came very close to taking all of my photo albums down there too.  Yes, I realize that this is a little overboard but I just get a little freaky during storms.  Pretty sure pregnancy makes this worse...

I have always been scared of storms.  I think this dates back to when I was in 2nd grade.  A little story for y'all....

Me and my best friend at the time, Sarah, were staying the night at a condo on the lake with her mom, her sister, and her sisters' friends.  It was her older sister's birthday party and we were just tagging along.  We were 7.  It was storming outside but no one thought anything of it.  All of the sudden around midnight there was a crazy pounding at the door to the condo followed by a total freak out by two 7 year-olds and a ton of teenage girls.  It was the cops and they were there to evacuate because it was flooding.  We gathered all of our important stuff and were led out by the cops.  Little did we know but it had already flooded the entire first floor.  I had to swim with the cop to the car because the water was already chest high on me.  I don't even remember where they took us...all I remember was that it had one whole wall that was windows.  I just sat there watching the lightening and the trees swaying...totally freaking out.

My parents could not get to me so they had one of their friends who lived close come pick me up...BY BOAT!!

Needless to say, I was traumatized.  I have been scared of storms ever since.

So I am ready for the April showers to be over!!!!!

In other news, my honey is off this week and we are going to start cleaning out the rooms and closets downstairs.  This makes me happy....this stresses him out.  I am trying to make it fun for him.  I told him we can listen to music and he can drink as much scotch or wine that he wants.  That really didn't help.  He just doesn't like to purge things.  I, on the other hand, LOVE getting rid of things.  I would do it myself but he won't let me because he thinks that I will just throw everything away.  I just might!

I told him that he can do absolutely nothing this weekend if he will give me two full days next week of purging and organizing.  He keeps trying to come up with things that he has to do.  Yeah, that isn't going to work.  Oh, and get this.  He told me that all the men that he has talked to tell him to just put off the cleaning and organizing because later on I will start nesting and do it all myself anyway.  I told him to have those guys call me and I will set them strait ;)

So here is to a lazy weekend of watching movies and eating bad food.  Oh the things I have to do to get him to help me organize!

Kelly Belly-10 weeks

I am 10 weeks pregnant today!  We made it to double digits!

The main thing this week, and the only thing I can really think about right now, is that I have been sick.  Like with a bad cold.  It totally sucks.

I woke up last Thursday with a really bad headache.  I have never just suffered through a headache before.  It was my birthday and I slept pretty much all day.  We did go and get a massage, which was great, but we had to skip the parade downtown because I felt like poo.

It was much better the next day but then I had a sore throat and started getting some congestion.  The sore throat only lasted that one day but I have just been super stuffy since then with a low grade headache.  My head feels like a balloon that needs to pop.  I  keep thinking if someone stuck a needle into my sinuses and relieved the pressure I would feel better!  (My honey says they can't do that by the way....boo!)  My nose is completely raw from sneezing and blowing my nose....I know...super attractive right?  I don't even sound like myself when I talk because I am so nasal.  It makes my eyes water just to hear myself!  Oh....and I think I have blown out my right eardrum from sneezing so much.

These have been my best friend...although mine don't have lotion...maybe I should get that...

I feel like this is what I look like....

I know there are some medicines that are ok for me to take but I just really don't want to.  I have made it this far, surely this is going to go away soon.  I can suffer through a cold....I can do it....I can do it....

Let's see...what else went on this week?  We announced to my husband's brother and his family and you can read about how we did that in my previous post.

I have been off work some so I have been trying to get some stuff done around the house...which is real fun when you are sick and just want to sleep all day.  I cleaned out our closets and our dresser.  I cleaned out all the drawers and shelves in our bathroom.  AND, I cleaned out our medicine cabinet.  If your medicine cabinet looked anything like mine then you realize what a task this was.  It was somewhat cathartic to get rid of all our leftover IVF meds.  None of them could have been saved because they had all been opened.  It is nice to open the cabinet and not have the Lupron staring at me.  It is also nice to open the fridge and not have the Follistim staring at me either.  I am happy just to have "normal" people meds in our cabinet.  I did save all the needles and syringes though....never know when those might come in handy!

My sleep has been screwed up this week.  I can fall asleep but I can't stay asleep.  I feel like I wake up a hundred times and I can't ever get comfortable.  I don't want to sleep on my back because that is not comfortable but I don't want to sleep all the way on my side either.  I have been trying to put some pillows under me and kind of prop myself halfway on my side but it doesn't really work well.  I think I need a body pillow to help do this.  I went to try to find one today but I couldn't....I guess I will have to order online.

Last night in the middle of the night my husband asked me if I was sleeping ok and I said no.  Then he said well why don't you try going into the living room?  I think I was keeping him awake!  Poor guy....just wait!!!

The good news about this week is that I haven't had NEAR as much nausea and food is starting to sound better and better!  I have realized that I need to eat more frequently though.  Otherwise I get really sick feeling (like low blood sugar) and shaky.  This feeling comes on super fast and then I am ill before I know it.  I have been carrying around peanut butter crackers or an orange to snack on between meals.

I don't have a "belly" picture this week because I have literally been in my jammies every day. This is for two reasons:
1) I am sick and don't want to get dressed
2) They are the only thing that is comfortable because I am so bloated!

Oh and I will share with all you pregnant girls that read my blog my newest awesome discovery this week......two words......JOLLY RANCHERS!!!!  That is all.....
