some catch up

This is the longest I have ever gone without posting.  Man I really want to still document here but, as with everyone else, there just seems to be no time to sit down to actually do it.  But today I do have a little time so I thought a little catch up post was in order!

Let's see.  What has been going on around here since my last post in mid-November?

We took a little trip to Branson, MO.  It is about 4 hours away for us and we had never been.  Well, actually Lonnie and I have been to Big Cedar many times before (which is close by) but never ventured into Branson.  We wanted to take Blakely somewhere and do some fun  things just for her.  She has adjusted to being a big sister really well but she definitely needs some Mommy and Daddy attention sometimes.  We took Brenda with us so she could watch the twins while we took Blakely places.

We had a great time.  We went to a butterfly museum,

had dinner at Dixie Stamp.ede where Blakely was enthralled...

went to the Titanic museum (Lonnie has a high school friend that works there and knows everything there is to know about it)

went to Silver Dollar City where Blakely rode her first roller coaster and loved it.

and had lunch with all of us at Br.anson Landing.

Lonnie and I went on a date one night and had one of the best steaks we have ever had.  It was fun to getaway and the babies did great.  (also...traveling with a babysitter is bomb)

We had a good Thanksgiving...I took ZERO pictures.  At the last minute we decided to travel to see Lonnie's family a couple of hours away.  A few of them had not met the twins yet so I am glad that we went.  Of course we had to load up the van with what looked like a week's worth of stuff just to spend a few hours away from home.  Everyone did good.  I took a pack n play and Benton and Emery actually napped in there together.  I wasn't sure they would do that but they did and I was soooo thankful because it made for much happier babies!

We had our twice yearly wine and gourmet dinner.  It was so wonderful and a great date night for us!

In early December I hosted a Christmas pajama playdate for all my friends and their kids.  We bought them all matching jammies.  It was so much fun.  Chaotic, but super fun.  The big kids and medium kids played in the playroom most of the time and the mommies and the babies stayed upstairs.  We drew names for the kids to exchange gifts and the mama's played dirty santa.  I think we started a tradition!

It was so hard to get a picture of all the kids.  We were like a bunch of crazy mamas trying to get the babies to look and the big kids to smile at the same time.  But we did it and I love this picture oh so much.

December is always a busy month made harder this year by everyone being sick for what seems like forever.  First Blakely got a little cold with a cough.  Then Benton and Emery got it.  They all got better for a few days and Blakely's cough came back.  Then about a week after being well the twins woke up snotty one morning.  No big deal.  That night they began to run a low grade fever.  Emery woke up in the middle of the night screaming and would not calm down.  She would only fall asleep sitting up on Lonnie's chest for 30 minutes at a time. The next morning her fever was up and she was crying a lot.  We gave her Ty.lenol and her fever went down and she acted better.  Still didn't want to be put down but she wasn't crying.  Well a couple hours after that she just became so lethargic and wouldn't nurse.  I got really scared because she was just limp and I couldn't really rouse her.  She wasn't asleep she just had this really sick look.  I ran her up to our doctor's office.  Her fever was 103 when we got there and they could tell she was so sick.  Strep, flu and RSV were all negative.  So I was like well what the hell?  I just knew it was going to be strep or rsv.  Anyway, our doctor, who is so wonderful and we LOVE him, came in.  He looked in her hears and said well I have GREAT news.  She has a raging ear infection and her eardrum will probably rupture.  Great news?  Ha!  Anyway, he was so happy to see her ear like that because ears don't typically cause that high of a fever (it had risen to 104 at this point) so he was thinking she may need a spinal tap and cultures and hospital, etc.  So yay for ear infection!  They gave her a shot of antibiotics there and Mot.rin and she perked up a little bit.  We avoided the rupture thank goodness!  About 5 days later, Benton was still so so snotty and started running a low grade fever again.  I took them both in (so he could check on E's ear too) and Benton had an ear infection...not near as bad as Em's but still had one.  So on antibiotics he went.  Oh and I didn't even mention this but they both had thrush.  Fun.  Great.  Emery got another ear infection after being off the antibiotics for 4-5 days because she was STILL snotty.  So she got another round of antibiotics.  I took them in for an ear check this week and Emery's is getting better (still have 5 more days of meds) and Benton has fluid behind both ears but it is not infected so as long as he doesn't get a cold anything then that should go away. I am so ready for everyone to feel better!  Oh and Blakely still has a cough for which we have started her on an inhaler.  Blah winter
is that not the saddest face???

Also, I felt terrible for Emery because all of her crying with that first ear infection was because she was in pain.  I honestly never even thought about an ear infection.  Blakely never had one and it just didn't even cross my mind.  I thought she was crying because of her fever.  She's never had a fever before so I thought that was just how she was when feverish.  When it would go down she would stop crying.  And it all just happened so fast.  She became snotty and not 12 hours later she was completely inconsolable.  Anyway, every time they get snotty forever more I am going to worry about ear infections.  So Daddy got an otoscope for Christmas ;)

My grandmother turned 80 and her sister 92 on December 19.  We always go have lunch with them and give them their gifts on that day.  I loaded up all the kids and took them on a Saturday to a very popular restaurant here.  It was hard but I am glad I did it.  They were both so happy to see them and it went well.

Well that seems like a good enough catch up post!  Babies are waking up and it is time to go get Blakely from school.  Christmas is next!

3 years

Three years ago today we were blessed with this sweet miracle.

Gah.  I still tear up when thinking about that day.

I remember so many nights of wondering if I was ever going to get to experience pregnancy.  Wondering if I would ever get to experience labor and birth.  Wondering if I would ever get to raise a child.  Well I did and I am.  I am so thankful for that.  That day three years ago was the best day of our lives.  I looked back over the pictures this morning and you can just see it in Lonnie's eyes and in my eyes.  Happiness.  Total happiness.

We were planning a big birthday bash for our girl yesterday but we had to cancel it the day before.  She got a stomach bug and was throwing up multiple times a day.  This was my first experience as a mom with the stomach bug and let me tell you...it has been awful.  My poor girl wanted to do nothing but lay on the couch and watch movies or sleep.  She fell asleep on the couch many times (unheard of) and she told me a few times that she was "ready to go to her bed and close her eyes".  She has been dehydrated and it has been a struggle to get her to drink fluids.  Today is day 5 but she stopped throwing up yesterday.  I think we are on the mend today.  She actually wanted to play with her babies and paint for about 45 minutes this morning before wanting to go lay down.

She was very disappointed about her party being postponed.  She had been asking every morning how many more days until her ice cream party.  When I told her we were going to have it in two weeks she said, "okayyyyy, I know I'm real sick, Mommy".  My mom and Jenni came over yesterday anyway and gave her a few presents and we sang her Happy Birthday.  She liked that but didn't last very long before wanting to lay down again.

sicky...

first smile in days...

Hopefully we will have better luck in two weeks!

Happy birthday sweet Blakely!

Down and out

Y'all.  I have been so out of it for a week.  I had a migraine.  I have never ever had one before and I seriously had no clue what they actually were.  I am so very sorry to migraine sufferers.  I thought they were just bad headaches.  No.  No no no.

It all started last Sunday.  I had a headache.  I knew it felt sort of different but I popped some ad.vil and went on.  It didn't help.  So for the next 2 days nothing helped but the headache was bearable.  And then on Tuesday, it wasn't.  I remember going to the doctor with my mom that morning and then I went to get my hair done.  I vaguely remember being there and I did tell her to hurry because I needed to lay down.  She did and I left there with my hair wet.  (Writing this out makes me realize that I don't remember paying her?  OMG...must call her)  I came home and set my phone alarm for 2:30 since I was going to have to go get B from MDO by 3:30.  I don't remember waking up.  I don't remember going to get her.  Apparently, at some point I called Lonnie and he could tell I was in major pain so he called his mom to come over to help me...she lives and hour and a half away.

I came straight home and put a movie on for Blakely.  I do remember that.  She laid on the couch with me while I tried to just survive the hours until my MIL got here or Lonnie got home.  I tried everything.  Ad.vil, Tyle.nol, Ex.cedrin.  I used my essential oils and they were the only thing that gave me the tiniest bit of relief but it was always short lived.  I was getting so sick that I couldn't even get up to get the oils.  I finally broke down and took one of Lonnie's pain pills.  Nothing.  Took another one.  Nothing.

migraine hell hell hell

Wednesday morning Lonnie made me take a muscle relaxer because we thought maybe it was a tension headache because it felt like I had a knife going from the base of my skull on the right side all the way through my right eyeball.  It did not help.  I called my doctor crying and they told me to come right in.  That sounded like the worst thing ever but I had to get some relief.  I really don't remember much about being there.  I know I was curled up in the dark room for quite a few hours.  He gave me a pill that helps with migraines and wanted me to stay to see if it helped.  It helped a tiny bit.  Like made it to where I could get in a certain position and I didn't want to throw up all over the place.

I still couldn't move much without feeling like death.  They gave me a shot of Deme.rol and Phener.gan.  I had to call my MIL to come get me and take me home since I now couldn't drive.  I don't remember that but I do remember waking up on the couch at my house and feeling better if I didn't move at all.  I had to go to the hospital to get a CT of my head just in case.  I don't remember that.  I really don't remember anything until about Friday.  I stayed in bed or on the couch and my MIL took care of B the whole time.

He gave me a nasal spray (narcotic) to help with the migraine pain.  Let me tell you about that stuff.  Whoa.  I have never been so loopy in my life.  But it worked.  Sweet relief.  I was so happy to have relief.  But about 3 hours later the pain would come raging back so I had to stay loopy for a few days.

Saturday I woke up with no headache.  Thank God.  But I felt like I had been hit by a truck.  And I still do.  I am getting better but I still don't feel right.  I have a few friends that suffer from migraines and they said that for a few days after a bad one it is normal to feel pretty terrible.  I have ZERO energy.  It takes all I have to walk up the stairs in our house.  I feel shaky and tired.  Ugh.

Anyway, there is my story.  I have never had a migraine before and let me tell you I NEVER WANT ONE AGAIN.  I am so sorry to anyone who has ever had one and I doubted your pain.  I was a complete and total idiot.  I am sure mine was stress induced because this summer has been pretty damn stressful around these parts.  Let's hope I am back to normal tomorrow.  I have stuff to do!

A little funny for you.  Lonnie told me I needed to pick up his prescription at the pharmacy today.  So I called a little bit ago and she told me that I can't get it until we are out of the one we just refilled.  I said but I haven't ever picked this prescription up?!  She was like, yes ma'am you did.  Last Monday.  I have your signature right here.  I walk over to our medicine cabinet and there it is.  I don't remember that at all.  I felt like an idiot.  But seriously, how scary?

The good news is that Blakely was a total trooper throughout all of this.  She kissed my head and asked me multiple times a day, "How you feeling, Mommy?  Head feeling better yet?"  Sweet girl.

No more migraines, please.

Crazy summer

I feel like this is the lost summer or something.  I can't believe it is already August!  Things have been so crazy and I feel like all I have blogged about is our IVF and Lonnie being sick. Those are the two biggest things going on right now but we have been doing other things too!  A quick update on both of those and the some pictures of what we have been up to.

Lonnie is better.  After a week in the hospital and a week at home on antibiotics, today is his first full day back to work.  I talked to him earlier and he was tired and his back was hurting but he was okay.  He started complaining of a back spasm on Friday and that makes me very nervous but hopefully it is nothing.  We had a follow up with our doctor last week and as of right now we don't know what caused his meningitis.  Our (wonderful) doctor is worried that both of his weird illnesses this summer are caused by something else that is going on with him.  I am hoping that is not the case but we are to inform him of any changes in symptoms.  He is finally done with his at home antibiotics and he let me pull his PICC line out...FUN!

Since we had to postpone our embryo transfer we are looking at about a 6-8 week wait until another transfer.  As of right now the temporary date for the transfer is September 19.  I am about to start over on all of the hormones in a few days.  That doesn't sound fun but I am more than ready to get the process started and get pregnant!

Soooooo.....what else have we been doing?

The weather here has been unreal amazing.  We haven't even hit 100 yet and that is just unheard of.  We have been trying to take advantage of that.

We have been to my grandfather's pool a few times.

Pool days always in up in car sleeping.

We have been to the library story and craft time.  Mainly she loves the painting there.

We went to the park and had a picnic.  Trying to get Daddy out of the house a little.

We have taken walks in our neighborhood and since B can ride her tricycle now she does that about half and then walks the other half.

I hav been playing softball.  It is really fun and this week is our last week.  It is a long commitment and I sometimes I don't want to go but I like it and hope to keep doing it in the fall!  Here I am about to go play IN THE RAIN.  They only cancel for lightening and this was just an all day rain shower.  It was...interesting.  ;)

And I got this injury.  This is about 5 days after so it looks much better than it did.
Some d-bag slid into me at second and was basically trying to knock me over.  I guess he thought since I was a girl he could intimidate me by doing that.  Well he can't.  And he didn't.  I got him out.  Go sit down.  ;)

Blakely loves watching me play so we have been setting up the t-ball and teaching her how to play.  After my games she loves to run the bases so at home it is her favorite too.

She did this probably 25 times!  She started sliding into third all on her own.  Ha!

Hopefully things are settling down around here.  MDO starts back up again in a couple of weeks so I am going to enjoy these last few days home with my girl while I can!

Where I should be

I should be in Denver right now snuggled up with two perfect embryos.  Having my aunt wait on me hand and foot so I can lay in bed and pray for those perfect embryos to stick.

But that is not the case.  We postponed our embryo transfer so I am here, at home.  It was a tough decision and it wasn't all at the same time.  We wanted to go ahead with it so bad but Lonnie was just too sick.  I would have been worried about him constantly and that is not conducive to trying to get pregnant.  I talked to my nurse and she made me feel better about it, she said it happens sometimes.  We would have had regrets if we went through with it in haste and it didn't work.  Should we have waited?  Did the stress play a factor?  Why did we rush it?

So I am here.  At home.  And that is right where I should be.  Taking care of my husband.  Hooking him up to his IV three times a day, forcing him to drink more Gato.rade and asking him too many times how he is feeling.  Our little embryos will be there in a few months when the timing is right.  :)

Sick again.

So Lonnie is sick again.  Very very similar to what he had the last time.

When he got home from work Friday he told me he was exhausted and he went directly to bed at 5:15.  He slept until 8:30 and then came in the living room and told me he felt like he had been hit by a truck.  I started to panic a little because that is exactly what he told me last time.  I tried not to worry.  I thought he just had a rough week at work.

In the middle of the night he woke up freezing cold with the chills and he had a fever.  He was also having severe joint pain (last time it was muscle pain and severe weakness so that is a difference in the illnesses).  Then I really started to freak out.  Holy crap this can not be happening again.

We started talking about it.  There were either 2 things going on.  He was getting the myositis or something similar again.  OR he had a virus that he could pass on to me and Blakely.  Now.  We are two weeks away from our embryo transfer and I CAN NOT get sick.  We weren't sure what to do.  Eventually we decided it would be best for me and B to go stay at my mom's house and his mom to come down and take care of him.  I did not want to do this at all.  I wanted to be the one to take care of him.  I always want to be the one.  But we had to try and look at the bigger picture.  We are so close to our goal of getting pregnant and we would hate to jeopardize that by me getting sick right here at the end.  (I am in total hibernation mode)

Anyway, he continued to get worse over the weekend.  He had one of the worst call weekends he has ever had so that was real fun for him.  Anytime he wasn't at the hospital (rare) he was sleeping.  He has actually been a little better yesterday and today so I am really thankful for that.  Last time day 3-5 were the absolute worst.  They drew a ton of labs yesterday...14 vials!  So we are waiting to hear about those.

This time around he does not have the muscle weakness so he is able to continue working through his joint pain.  His fever seems to go away during the day and then return about 2-3 in the afternoon.  Our doctor is not sure if the two similar illnesses are related but he does think the it is quite the coincidence and that is why they have ordered a boatload of testing to be done.

Blakely and I are back home now.  If this was something contagious then that period has passed so we came home yesterday.  I really hated being away from him when he was so sick.  Ugh..so much guilt about that.  Deep down I definitely feel like these two illnesses are related.  Since the last time, he has mentioned to me that his right ankle hurts at night.  Once he gets up and walks on it in the mornings it is fine.  Then it stiffens up at night and he has to limp to the shower every morning.  Now he gets a fever with much more severe joint pain in more joints?  Something is going on.  I am really hoping we figure it out soon because something weird is going on.  My man is has been in pain and I hate to see that.  Boo.

My honey.

I just typed out this post in about 15 minutes this morning.  I haven't really even re-read it.  It is quite wordy and medical.  If you are like my friend, Sarah, then you totally shut down when medical terminology is used (although she is getting better since she married a nurse!)  So, I put a small summary at the bottom if you just want to skip to that.  Hoping this makes sense!

This is so completely random.  I will start from the beginning.

When I got home Friday night at 2 am Lonnie had accidentally locked me out.  He had to come upstairs and unlock the door for me.  When we went back down to bed he was shivering and said he had the chills.  He sleeps with no sheets or blankets so I knew this was weird.  I covered him up and turned the heat up.  I knew he had a fever because he was so hot.  The next morning he woke up to go to work, took some Tyl.enol and felt better. In fact he felt good so we went on with our plans to go have a fun family day.

About half way through our great day I could tell he was uncomfortable.  He mentioned that his muscles were hurting, mainly his neck and his back.  Like I said before, I thought he just slept wrong.  He went on home while I took B for ice cream.

While we were watching the movie that night he was moaning and groaning pretty frequently.  His fever had returned earlier in the day and Ty.lenol was not getting it to go down.  As he progressively got worse we started to get a little bit worried.  He kept saying that his back and neck hurt so bad and this is coming from the guy who never complains about pain.  He has had a few injuries since I have known him and he just has a high tolerance for pain.  Around 8:00 pm is when he told me to call my mom to watch B so he could go get checked out in the ER.  I tried not to freak the eff out but I'm pretty sure I failed.  I knew that if he thought he should get checked out then he was really feeling worse than I even knew and he was worried.

Saturday night in the ER....no bueno

At this point I think we were both worried about it being meningitis or something and giving it to Blakely.  That was our main concern heading in to the ER.  He had a fever, chills and severe muscle pain.  None of which was getting better with medication.  They worked him up and everything was normal.  We were there only a couple of hours but he was so uncomfortable.  I have never seen him like that.

Keep in mind.  He was on call all weekend.  So he worked Saturday but Sunday he felt so awful he decided he wasn't going to go in unless they called with an emergency.  Thankfully they didn't.  He was worse Sunday.  Still had the fever and severe muscle pain.

Monday morning rolls around and he heads to work.  He told me that morning that his muscles were very weak.  It was hard for him to move his hands and arms.  At about 11 he called me from his cell phone.  Something he never does from work.  He told me he had called his partner in (from his vacation!) and he left work and was headed to see our doctor.  He couldn't hold the wires and needles for his cases.  He said that his muscle weakness had gotten much worse over the last few hours.

They ran some labs and then Lonnie came home to wait for the results.  Dr. W called and said that one of his labs (CK) that measures the breakdown of muscles was high.  (It was not high yet when we were in the ER)  He wanted him to hydrate as much as possible and come back in the morning for repeat labs.  They were thinking it was some sort of myositis (inflammation of the muscles...this can be caused by about a million different things).  But there were also a few scarier things that it could be and if the labs were abnormal the next day we would start ruling those out.

That afternoon and evening we started to get really worried.  In 15 years Lonnie has never missed a single day of work.  He laid on the couch and shivered and groaned all evening just getting worse.  The next morning (yesterday) he could barely get out of bed.  He hurt so much and his muscles just would not work, they were so weak.  He forced himself to get in the shower thinking it would make him feel better.  He had to go to work!  I got up as he was trying to brush his teeth. Trying and failing.  He couldn't even squeeze the toothpaste out.  I told him there was no way he was going to work.  Absolutely not.  My foot was down.  He agreed and called his partner who knew he may not be able to make it.

Once that was settled we sat down to figure out what in the hell to do.  We were getting worried about a couple of really serious illnesses.  I mean how random to have rapid onset of severe muscle pain, muscle weakness and a fever?  He called one of the neurologists and he agreed to see him immediately.  I drove him up there and the neurologist worked him over.  They ordered a few tests and ran a few tests in the office.  The one they ran in the office ruled out the most serious illness (Guillain-Barre).  It would have been really random for him to have that so I was happy to know it wasn't that.  We moved on to the MRI to rule out the next most serious illness.  Right after it was done Lonnie went and looked at it and it was normal.  Wonderful.  Then we went for more labs.

We were at the hospital all morning.  Once we were done there we went to our regular internal medicine doctor...let's call him Dr. W, the one Lonnie saw the day before.  We talked to him about things and the labs still weren't back.  He sent us home and the plan was for him to call us with the results.  If his CK was higher then he wanted to admit him to the hospital.  The problem with high CK is that it can build up in your kidneys and cause kidney failure.  So they would want him in the hospital to pump him full of fluids to try and prevent that.  Dr. W made me feel a little better while we were there.  He told me that this is not a mystery.  He still thinks it is an infectious myositis and rhabdomyolysis.  We just don't know what caused it.

We came home and waited.  Dr. W called a little later and said that his CK had gone up significantly.  Like more than quadrupled.  BUT!  He had talked to an infectious disease specialist and since his kidney function labs were normal she thought it would be okay to recheck the labs in the morning (Wednesday).  As long as he hydrated as much as possible and went to the ER if he got any worse.

This made me nervous but going to the hospital didn't sound all that awesome either.  I made him lay on the couch all evening and forced him to drink a ton of water and Gat.orade.  When he woke up yesterday morning he felt a little better.  That was the first time since this started that he wasn't getting worse.  His labs came back yesterday and his CK had gone up but only slightly.  Dr. W thinks that he has plateaued and is turning the corner.  So we go back in a few minutes for another recheck and HOPEFULLY it will have started to come down.

He was definitely feeling better yesterday afternoon.  He still can't write his name with a pen or text (his fingers just will not work right) but he does not have as much pain and he feels somewhat stronger.  I am so so happy he is starting to feel better.  We are supposed to leave for the beach soon!  Now that he is on the mend (please let that be the case) we are still planning on going.  I have been on hold with packing and getting things ready because I wasn't sure it was going to work out.  And I've also been super busy taking care of him and driving him to all these places and just stressing out about his illness in general.  So now I have to get on it!

I love this husband of mine so very much.  We had a few scary days there but I am glad we are past that.  I respect him so much for being such a hard worker.  He has told the partner that worked for him a hundred times how much he appreciates it.  He keeps telling me things that we need to get or do for the doctors that helped him and took care of him.  He has told them numerous times how grateful he is to have them.  He just does not like being the patient!  I am so thankful for his partner that came in to work for him this week.  If he had been out of town I don't know what we would have done!  We may never know what caused this.  More than likely it was just the way his body reacted to a virus that he had.   Who knows.  All I know is that I am happy he is getting better!  His official diagnosis is infectious myositis (inflammation of the muscles caused by an infectious process and rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of the muscle tissue).

*short version*  Lonnie started having severe muscle pain and weakness along with a fever 5 days ago. We spent a few scary days worrying that it could be something life-altering since he only continued to get worse.  We have been in and out of the doctors office for tests and planning to be admitted to the hospital but, thankfully, we have avoided that.  Yesterday was the first day he felt a little bit better.  We are going back for more labs this morning and hoping that he is on the mend!  His diagnosis is infectious myositis (inflammation of the muscles caused by an infectious process) and rhabdomyolysis (breakdown of muscle tissue).  So freaking random.

Spring Break

So Blakely is on Spring Break this week.

I know.  She's 2.  I didn't even realize this would be happening until a few weeks ago.  I should have known because MDO goes by the schedule of the schools in town (Christmas break, spring break and summer break) but it never crossed my mind.  Juanet's daughter is a senior in high school so they took a trip this week.  So that means no MDO and no Juanet.  All of that is totally fine because I planned some fun things for B and I to do.  But the biggest of big deals about this is that Juanet is not here to clean my house today.  WHAT?  That means I need to clean my house (desperately) while Blakely is here.  I am really really bad at that.  Juanet will probably show up next Tuesday to hurricane house and want to turn right back around and go home.  (Yes, I realize how incredibly spoiled I am in this department.)

And instead of cleaning during nap I am blogging.  Obvious choice.  I am doing a load of laundry right now because the husband has exactly one white t-shirt and one pair of scrubs left in the closet so that totally counts as cleaning.  Sidenote, where do all of the white t-shirts go?  I think he secretly throws them away after particularly terrible days at work or maybe I would find 100 dirty white t-shirts in his trunk.  I don't know.

Anyway, back to spring break and all the fun plans.  They have been thrown out the window because Blakely is sick.  This alllll started on Friday night when Lonnie was putting her to bed and she felt warm.  Sure enough, fever and proceed with Tyl.enol.  High fever continued into Sunday when she decided to stop eating and drinking.  Yesterday morning she popped right out of bed and started playing so I was thinking, okay, virus, and we are on the down side.  But she wouldn't even drink her milk.  Now this child has never ever never refused milk.  She loves it and would drink a gallon of it a day if I would let her.  So I started to sort of freak.  I went and bought juice and apple sauce and ice cream (for bribes, duh).  Yesterday I did get her to drink some juice (which was mainly water...I am such a trickster) and drink a smoothie.  I called the doctor and what do you know he's out of town.  Spring break remember?  Normally his partner will see you but he was completely full because apparently Blakely isn't the only sick spring breaker.  So we had the pleasure of going to the other pediatric clinic across town this morning.  I wasn't thrilled about it because I am all about living in my little comfort zone but it was fine and she has strep.  Joy.

Just looking about 5 at the doctor's office

Isn't that the saddest face?  She asked me if we were going home to go back to bed.

As all moms with little ones know, there is one small upside to their child being sick.  The snuggles.  OH THE SNUGGLES.  They are great and part of the reason my house is such a wreck.  She wants me to sit in the chair and hold her so you better believe that is what we have been doing.  On Saturday night (before we realized just how sick she was and before she decided to fast) we made a pallet on the floor and watched Fro.zen with some popcorn. Superfun.  We have since watched it again and more television than I care to even admit.  More than she has watched in the past year combined, surely.  She hasn't even asked to go outside.

She has even been taking a nap with me but not today because I am supposed to be cleaning.  I should probably get on that.  I think I am officially rescheduling spring break to next week.  I was thinking the zoo, the park, the library and a hike but definitely not this week.  Once she gets better I am going to have to recover for a few days.  I have been getting negative sleep if that is even possible.  So tired but so happy that hopefully my girl is on the mend.  And I am off to clean the kitchen.  Promise.  Because we have exactly one clean fork in this house.

sicky

For the past couple of days B and I have been sick.  Not cool universe.

Yesterday and today she slept until 10 am.  You read that right....TEN IN THE MORNING.  I couldn't believe it.  I went and woke her up yesterday at ten because I was so worried about her.  She is usually up by 730 at the latest.  She was burning up so I gave her some medicine and we sat in the recliner.  She passed right out on my chest and slept for 2 more hours.  Since I was feeling pretty awful, I was able to doze with her.  I hate that she is sick but  I looooove the snuggles.  I was telling Lonnie last night "don't you remember when she was weeks old and all we did was sit here and she would sleep on us?"  That seems like forever ago.  He says he doesn't remember that...ha!  I showed him pictures ;)

This morning she stirred around 8 so I went and got her and brought her into bed with me.  She snuggled right in and we slept until 1030 together.  I love that she loves to sleep in her bed and I wouldn't want to change that but sleeping snuggles are just awesome.

She is napping right now and I should be too but I can't fall asleep.  I am feeling better today so I hope she starts feeling better quickly too.  She just wants to be held and lay on me.  So that is exactly what we have done for the past 48 hours.  Her nose is running like crazy and she has a cough.  I think it is just a virus but if she has fever tomorrow I will take her in.

Her being sick just shows another way in which she is not a baby anymore.  She points to her nose and says "pipe...no" which means wipe nose.  I get a boogie wipe and tell her to blow and she does.  Most of the time she wants to carry a boogie wipe around with her to wipe her own nose.  If she gets a bunch of drainage in her throat I tell her to cough it up and she does.  When she sneezes and snot goes everywhere she says "uh oh" and gets a "tow" (towel) and "kee" (cleans) it up.

We've shared lots of germy kisses, watched lots of Mick.ey, drank lots of water (and ice..her fave) and just been totally worthless together this week.  I have loved it but am looking forward to both of us feeling better!

Oh...and our air conditioner went out this morning.  It is 95 here today.  Come on universe....

Lately

So bed rest will drive a person crazy.  The good news is that I have come to the conclusion that this household could not possibly function without me.  At one point on Saturday evening this is what was occurring here.
1.  Phone ringing
2.  Dogs barking
3.  Blakely running around screaming at the top of her lungs (normal, right?)
4.  Mother in law chasing Blakely around trying to catch her so she can feed her dinner (unsuccessfully)
5.  Doorbell ringing
6.  Music blaring on mother in law's phone that Blakely is carrying around with her.
7.  Text alerts going off on my phone
8.  Oven timer dinging

All of this while I was laying flat on the couch unable to attend to any of these things.  Drove me bonkers but I couldn't help but laugh.  It is so hard to stay flat when there is so much that needs to be done in your house.

Anyway, I am feeling pretty good.  I am 4 days post 3 day transfer.  That translates (sort of) to 7 days past ovulation.  I am just hoping that those little babes hung on tight in there and are growing growing growing.  I have my blood test on Monday...the day after my birthday.  Hoping for a fantastic birthday present!

On Sunday morning Blakely started running a fever.  We gave her medicine and it came down just fine.  Late that afternoon it spiked up to 104.3.  Not cool at all.  She just wanted to lay in the recliner with me which is so not like her at all.  We put her in a cool bath to try to cool her down until the medicine could kick in.  She slept in our bed that night because I was worried about her fever spiking again.
serious bed head...

It did.  Yesterday she seemed fine though.  No fever until last night.  This morning she didn't have a fever but she obviously did not feel well.  She just wanted to lay in the bed with me.  I think she would have done that all day.

We decided to take her in to see the doctor since she was obviously not feeling well even with her fever down.  He thinks she has a virus called roseola.  But if she doesn't break out in the rash that goes along with that tomorrow or the next day then I have to take her back in on Friday to be tested for mono.  Argh.  I hate when she is sick.  Really I do.  Although I LOVE the snuggles.  And we have been doing lots of that!

The appointment started by Blakely peeing on me in the waiting room.  I have no clue what happened.  I just felt something warm while she was sitting on me and sure enough it came straight out of the diaper.  That has never happened before.  I didn't have a change of clothes for her (or me) so we just hung out and smelled like pee.  Cool

We were there for a while so we had a bit of fun taking some pictures.  She gives the best kisses ever!  On the bottom left picture she is showing off her boo boo...where they drew her blood.

Lonnie is off work this week as long as his partner's wife doesn't go into labor.  She is 37 weeks with twins.  We have lots of plans of things to get done around the house and in the yard.  The weather has been great here and it is giving us all spring fever.  I am hoping the next 5 days go by really fast!
